I just sent in my application for a leftover cow elk this morning.

I was just curious if anyone hunted the area. I have been fortunate enough to hunt on a friend’s 4000-acre ranch. The ranch has high & low lands w/ plenty of & Elk & Antelope. This always happens…. As soon as I send in the application I start getting the fever. So far the past 6 years I have had 100% on cow elk & doe/buck antelope.

Someday I WILL take a nice bull.

I hunt near there, but just over the border in Colorado. We've been scouting hard in Routt Nat'l Forest and I think we have a lead on a good group of elk.

Good luck this season. Someday I want to hunt antelope in Wyo!

Arise,

Any stories from the last 6 years? What are you shooting with?

Just curious.

I’m shooting a Weatherby 30.06 – 180 Grain. Noz-Par.

The person who owns the land does not rent it out for grazing so it’s plentiful w/ elk. His land backs up to a national forest. He has a warehouse that we hang/skin & a big walk in freezer that we store the meat. This is how I learned how to Elk hunt…..Easy street – I KNOW! Some day I would like to go out on horseback & do it up right w/ the elements.

My longest shot was with a loper…278 yards

Shortest shot on an elk was 18 yards.
