Figuring out what your common, everyday freshwater bass is thinking hardly takes much imagination.
A lure in progress.
Lance Leavitt tests one of his fishing lures in the family pool. The key to a good lure, he said, is to mimic the motion of a wounded fish.
Lance Leavitt takes over the table with his handcrafted fishing lures while his wife, Liane, works in the kitchen. "He always cleans it up again," she said.
Several examples of the finished product. Leavitt often attaches a series of beads on one side and a strip of shiny material on the other side to maximize the chance that a hungry bass will take the bait.
