[Ocmulgee Ogre]

Just getting around to posting pictures from my first African safari. The hunt took place in the Kwa Zulu-Natal Province and the Northern Province on the Limpopo River.

The hunt was with Tinus van Heerden of Sangira Safaris in 2002.

I only had one chance to eat any of the meat. One night we asked the PH to fix some of the "venizon" (they call it all venizon). It was the gemsbok tenderloin cooked over the fire. It was some of the best game meat I have ever eaten...kinda like veal and fork tender.

Next time we'll eat more of it. Our PH indicated they never know if the hunters want to eat any of the meat so they always plan on providing meat for each meal.

The baboon was a tough SOB, though! Needed for seasoning...
