If you are / WERE one of the few of us that hunted the area around the old school house by White Oak Development, forget it now. I was there today dove hunting and meet up with 2 Riverside Parks Rangers. Nice guys. Well, here is the skinny of it: The area around the old school house and the oak covered hills by the development are marked "No Hunting". The land of the marshes along San Timeteo Road west to the bend, north to the 10 freeway and back again is now a Riverside Wildlife Preserve. It is posted at all corners, roads, canyons, everywhere. The only open land is in the dead center which is owned by Oak Development but they informed me that they are going to have it soon also for the preserve. It seems that there is a small bird, butterfly and a rat that live there that are on the endangered list ? ? ? They have taken about 2 square miles of land so, there goes another hunting location.

Dang...I remember about 10 yrs ago driven the jeep trails around San Timeteo Canyon and huntin pigs. We would hunt the "Escapees" from Bighorn Canyon Ranch. It got so bad, CA DFG put out pig traps in the field along the river bank. Those were the days. Quail, Dove and Yotes were abundunt back up in the canyon. Lots of good hunts!!!!!!

Yea, there is still one large trap in the area I mentioned. It is huge. One of the rangers I talked to today said he saw about 8 hogs down by Oak Valley Parkway on private land (rats). I will continue to look for an area aroud there though...maybe

Last time I was in the area, I remember a few private ranches...Might be worth it to "Knock & Talk" and offer a trespass fee...

This sucks as I just saw a hog the other day while driving down the 60 freeway. Got a little excited and was planning on cruising down there to find try and find some public land.

Is it possible any hogs have made it to the other side of the 60 or maybe up into the national forest to the north? I'm guessing that's a no.
