The salmon season opens Saturday with the best outlook, fish forecast and optimism since 2005, the last decent season. The last great season was 2002. The Pacific Fisheries Management Council has forecast 834,208 salmon available for fishermen off the Bay Area and Central Coast, and more than 1.55 million in all, including salmon from the Klamath River and elsewhere up north. That is a sensational outlook.
