Head down to the hunting ground last Saturday. Wanted to try and get a turkey for thanksgiving. Also have the rifle and a pig tag handy just incase. Haven't been to the place since A-zone deer season, not sure where the turkeys will be. Did some glassing during the early morning hours and only saw lots of deer, some really nice bucks. Decided to drive the roads and look for turkey tracks. Turned out the roads have fresh pig tracks. It looks like two pigs running together but after closer observation, we concluded that it was only one pig walking the roads two or three times. Some of the tracks looked to be about a day or two old, but some looked like the pig had just passed by a few minutes ago. After a few hours of trying to figure out where the pig went, we decided to come back in the evening to stake out a spot that had a fresh set of track disappeared into a small hill with some thick stuff. 4pm came and we planned to dropped off dad on the back side of the hill and me and mini-me will stake out the spot where we last saw the pig tracks went in. Well it didn't quite work as planned, but we liked the result. We were on the way to drop off dad when all of sudden I slammed the brake and jumped out of the truck to fumble for the rifle in the back of the truck. While I played monkey fingers trying to load the gun, the hog just stood there staring at us. It got tired of the stared down and went back on his own business grazing. Almost a minute later BANG! from the .270 and the knife came out. Some coyote will have a good feast on the gutpile. Back the truck to it 10feet from the road and load. Off we go skinning shack bound. 180 lbs. dressed.

Nice job.

Isn't that life? Next time you're pig hunting, I'm sure that big tom will just walk up to you - and glare.

That happened so many times, but it wasn't during turkey season.
