Is it a coincidence or what?...I logged on to JHO and the hog forum had a few posts of people tagging calicos.

I went to FHL hoping that the elk hunters would tag out early and elk hunt areas would be open for everyone. Well luck was in my favor and it finally happened on Monday morning. And the result was "Calico is dead".

Don't get too excited if you find pig tracks around the water and mud puddles in the campground. I didn't know my son was creative enough to fool people with hog hooves....hehe.

I was looking for you. I wanted to see your new 6.8. Jesse told me you were in 13E. I had my 73 year old dad and my 12 year old son with me so I couldn't drag them on foot with me to 13E or 29. We did some quail hunting in 7, 27. Then we went off to LPNF to shoot my M1-Carbine that I just changed out the barrel on. All my buddy went home after the monday morning hunt. We were hot following some pig tracks until we lost them in the bottom of a canyon with thick grass and hard ground. I knew they were somewhere not far, but it was 1pm and they were probably snoring. I told all my friends to stay for the evening hunt but the long 3.5 hours drive home got the best of them. I, dad, and son went back to the spot and glass glass and glass. Then the calico showed himself on a hillside only one ridge over from where we lost the tracks in the morning. We were hoping to see the group of about 6-7 pigs that made the tracks, but the lone calico boar was just fine at the last hour before sunset.

That was the AR15 in 6.8 SPC. 85gr. Barnes TSX at about 45 yards. I shot using the red-dot holosight sitting on top of the scope. I like it now.
