This one was on the weekend of Dec. 12-13. Met with my buddy from Long Beach at the gate on Saturday morning at 6am. Parked my truck just inside the gate. We headed up the hill in my buddy's truck to my usual honey hole as the sky poured cats and dogs. Braving the slippery roads the truck ended sliding off the road into the ditch. Out we walked around the hills without seeing any sign of pigs. We started the long hike back towards my truck. About 3 miles into the hike a truck came by and we flagged it down. Thanks to Steve for driving us back to my truck. Hate to do that 10 miles walk. Took my truck on another road to the top of the hill where we walked down 100 yards to my buddies stranded truck and retrieved all our gears. My buddy called his wife at home to bring up his bigger truck with mud tires. We drove back down the mountain and ran into three guys with a green Tundra stucked in the mud. We hooked a chaing to his tow ball and yanked him out. You're welcome Mr. Green Tundra, never did caught your name. Further down from the mountain we ran into Steve again and he was stucked in the mud as well. I tried to yank him out of the mud but too bad he sanked too deep. 4pm came and my buddy's wife made it to the gate. We jumped in his big truck and headed back out for a quick last hour hunt. We passed by a big oak tree and I got a glimpse of a bunch of pigs rooting arount the tree. Backing up the diesel truck was so loud sending the pigs in the thick bushes. We jumped out and looked around the thickets til it got dark, then headed back to the hotel.

Sunday morning we left my buddy's wife and kids and my 10 year old son in the hotel. We found ourselves at the same spot where we saw the pigs the previous night. I followed the tracks further through lots of thick stuff and out to the open oaks. I climbed up a small knoll and 8 pigs walked up from a draw 50 yards away. I sent a 150 grain TSX at a 150 pounder and she laid there squeeling. I thought she was done but a few seconds later she got up and ran after the rest of the pigs. I sent another one to her head and went down for good. The photo is the pig with my 10 year old as he also got to experienced with us on getting the truck stucked and walked in rain and mud with us. He told me it was worth braving the weather afterall.
