Braved the cats and dogs down poured on Saturday. Got to the spot and immediately found fresh tracks of a lone boar crossed the road and went in the brush. Circled around the brush and no tracks came out. Re-grouped with dad and mini-me, and we made a plan. Knowing the pigs usually ran downhill, crossed the road and up to another big patch of thickets which was always a pig safe zone. Placed dad and mini-me on the road to watch while I rustle up some brush after the tracks. I stepped in the brush and heard thundering hooves downhill towards mini-me. Minutes later a shot rang from the road and the voice came over the radio that mini-me will be getting a chilli-wrap dance. Three pigs were in the safe zone. We re-group again and now joined by another buddy and his mini-me making that 5 of us now. We came to a crossed road and everyone pick their direction to walk looking for new pig tracks. I went up a bowl and immediately found a set of fresh tracks heading up to a patch of thickets. I followed it up, down, and around so many hills and draws until it finally some heavy down pour washed it away. I decide to go down a small draw to see if any tracks have crossed through. I round a corner and 5 yards away a hog was snoring next to the trunk of an oak tree. I raised the gun and it heard me clicked the safety. It got up and ran but I was quick enough to squeeze a round off. I saw what looks like a bottle water erupted on the side of the pig before it disappeared. I followed the tracks through the bushes for about 100 yards then started to find small drops of blood. Another 100 yards later I found him laying next to the bushes as you see in the pic. This guy is tough as he could still go 200 yards when the bullet tore up his liver and lodged in his lung. Luckily we have 5 guys and after cutting it up, everyone have about 40 lbs in their pack. The bad thing is we were about 2 miles from the truck as the crow fly. But we made it out with just only some black and blue toes and a couple of blisters.
