Awoke at 3:30am Thursday morning. For some reason the alarm set at 3am was not loud enough. Dad and I was supposed to meet a buddy at the parking at 4am. Made it to the parking lot at 4:35am. Found buddy sleeping in his truck. All gears were packed and down the trail we marched in the bright full moon. Got to the favorite glassing point just as dawn peaked over the horizon. Buddy decided to glass the morning from the point. Dad and I continued up hill to another spot. 45 minutes later we made it to the other spot. I walked around a big oak tree and out came a over a small knoll about 70 yards away, a boar walking towards me. I sat down and rested the rifle on my knees. The boar stopped to browse and turned broadside. BOOM! a 165 grain BarnesX Fed. vital-shok took out his spine. He dropped on his track. Dad and I worked on getting the boar hung in the tree for skinning and quartering for the backpacks. Buddy echoing on the radio that he heard a shot from us and he's coming up our way to help with the packout. I radioed him back saying if he's that confident in us, then go ahead and come on up. 45 minutes later buddy showed. Some more pictures taken and the work began. We skinned, cut and quartered the boar, and stuffed it in backpacks. Three hours later we were back at the truck.
