No. We didn't have a camera in the hell hole. We caped it and quartered it before getting back to the truck, and the camera. Oh well. It wasn't a big bodied boar. It may have went 160.
Excellent guys. Sounds like a great hunt. I'll be putting in for the Feb pig-o-rama. Hearing about your success, just got me that much more excited. Way to go and great pictures.
What Brent, you didnt shoot it with your bow???
Wuss.
Your story really captured the essence of Tejon, especially the first timer syndrome ala the missed shots. We've all been there Nate. Sounds as if it was loaded with hogs, so I hope to make the next one with you guys in the spring.
Nate, your pig looks like a porker (no pun intended)
And Brent, yours looks awesome. That will make a killer mount next to that 193 muley you took last year.
Glad you boys had fun.
Awesome, awesome story Brent. You should be a moderator. There is a lot of bug spray in it for you.
Way to go SDHNTR & One Track. That hog with the tusk will make a nice mount. Looks/Sounds like you guys had a blast. You guys mentioned you set up a new "Wall Tent". What brand did you get? What brand of wood stove? How was it setting up? I'm in the market for a wall tent and I'm looking for any type of feedback. I hunted in last years PigORama and that was my first time huntin the ranch. That place is seriously awesome. Again, congrat's on the trip.....
HH714,
We got the Bighorn II Outfitter tent from Cabelas. We got the whole package with the tent, stove, floor liner, and vestibule. It set up pretty easy. Probably a 20-30 minute job with two guys. That just depends on how many guy lines you want to set up. The tent is sturdy and looks like it could withstand some serious weather. You can get it really warm in there with the stove. And I mean really warm. I can heartily recommend the tent.
That tent is awesome. It's not a canvas tent. It's a tough lightweight material that looks like it will last the test of time, and abuse. The poles are very sturdy and the shock cord is cable. I was really impressed! The only thing we need now is a place to take a wizz, without leaving the comfort of a warm shelter. A Gatorade bottle comes to mind.
I dropped the hog off at the taxi man yesterday. Made chorizo and Italian sausage last night. Kids are eating up that hog faster than he tumbled down the hill.
Nate, now that I got a big buck, and a big hog, I'm holding out for a 350+ archery bull. Gunna join me?
I'm just a humble foot tappin' banjo plucker. Tell ya what though. It's more expensive to stuff a hog than a deer. Dang it. Might have to sell another rifle.
