He was in a rather remote area. That lion could have gone any direction and be a long way gone really quickly. Chances of it attacking another person are probably rare but you never know.

Maybe the lion has an internet connection and the link to JHO and saw the DFG feed and beat feet otta here!

I am actually glad the cat got away. It did not do anything to warrant the DFG's lethal attention.

It was probably just protecting its home turf.

It was probably a really dominant alpha male. These cats don't give up any ground.

Wouldnt anyone here do the same thing if they found some stranger sleeping in their livingroom??

Shoobee they said it was a female cat based on the DNA.

Interesting. When the females get aggressive like that it is often because they are nursing cubs.

Although I am sure the females are territorial against each other as well.

So either reason could have been the cause of the attack.

At any rate, sleeping under the stars is not a good idea.

This reminds me of the guy that sue Fish and Game for being injure by a deer. The lion is under the protection of Fish and Game and the state. If someone purposely killed or injured the lion, means citation and arrest by DFG and prosecute in court by the state of California. In this case the lion purposely attack and injured a sleeping camper. The guy may have a case against DFG and the state of California for medical expense and restitution. I mean it would the same thing as someone's dog ran out and attack a person jogging down the sidewalk. I wonder what the verdict will be if there is ever a law suit on this one?
