I've been seeing turkey chicks lately, groups of at least 6, and my brother-in-law in Warsaw has been seeing them too, groups of at least 6. Im wondering how many chicks in a group there should be, if there were a good hatch? I have seen 3 different groupings of them the last couple days, between here and KC.

I don't think half a dozen birds is very good and believe the torrential spring rains we had killed a lot of nests. In other years it's not unusual to see a dozen poults but this year I've seen very few young birds.....

I haven't been seeing any turkey poults, but I saw a mess of quail chicks the other day ~ about 20 of them! SO cute...

Since I injured my shoulder this year, I haven't been mowing our fields. I guess that provided plenty of cover. Might even be another reason I haven't been seeing any turkey poults ~ too high grass, and too many weeds???
