Shot placement

I was looking around the net for shot placement on wild hogs and came across this site, http://www.texasboars.com/anatomy.html I know this has been talked about a lot here but I think this is worth a look. The vitals area is even smaller and farther forward than I thought.
The page is pretty graphic so if you don't like blood you should not go there.

This is an excellent website for reference. Two conclusions which I've found out myself. The spine dips quite a bit at about the front legs up to the head. Secondly, the vitals are clearly in the bottom third of the animal, and the behind-the-shoulder shot is not very effective. If presenting broadside, you want to pop them in the middle of the shoulder. I've lucked out before and had a high shot (which was aimed for the vitals) take out the spine. I've also hit above the spine (directly above front leg) and watched the animal trot off like nothing happened at all.....with little blood trail. Not fun.
