Anybody shooting a new SKB? Not the ones imported by Ithica. I am looking at a Model 385 SxS in 20 gauge. Very nice looking gun but a bit pricey. Have been quoted $1850 by the only authorized dealer in the Sacramento area. MSRP is $2049. That's a little more than I wanted to spend. Figured I could get it for $1650-$1700. I like English stocks and splinter forends, unfortunately that model only comes in the "matte" finish which I'm not crazy for. Does anyone have experience with English stocks and beavertail forends? I can get that combo in the gloss finish. It will weigh a little more. Let me know if you have one or have shot one. The lockup is very tight on the O/U's but the dealer didn't have a SxS to look at. I'd have to order it sight unseen. Distributor in Nebraska said he would go and pick the one with the best wood for me. Sorry for the long post. This is a ton of money and I want to get the best gun I can.

Well I have an SKB 200E, that was imported by Ithaca. Its a 20gauge side by side.
I know this isn't want you asked for, but since you got no responses, I will give you my feedback on this gun. I love it.

The wood is not my favorite, but the gun feels great, looks good, and is still very tight and solid.

I don't know how the new SKBs compare with mine, but I have been pleasantly surprised by this gun.

Poor Aim,

I have that same gun. I like it except for the front bead. Light to carry all day. I use it for pheasants.
Does yours have the big red florescent bead?

Did you change it? Do you know if it is a screw type post or is it glued in place?

That's funny you mention the front bead.

Just last night I was cleaning it from the weekend hunt and noticed
the front metal "ring" on the bead got bent this weekend. I was wondering if it was
screwed on or glued too?

I general I do like the fiber optic type front beads because the work well in low light conditions, but your right, on this SKB I don't really like them either. The little metal rings are too flimsy.

If you find a good way to replace it, let me know and I will do the same.
