scott nailed it. At the time I was living on Kauai.I was born and raised there, but now am living in San Luis Obispo California. No more hunting for me
. I've got another picture of the stalk that I can put up. And another of the pig I didn't bag like a month later in a rainstorm, I think it got pregnant. The bugger had been tipping our chickens feed barrels and getting into them for a few weeks staright, one night she came out earlier than normal. Ill post the other pic of me stalking too.
Heres the photo of the stalk. Taken by my buddy Nic Barca, if any of you want to see more pictures of hog and goat hunting in Hawaii check out his website. Nic Barca's: Hunting and Fishing Hawaii
No more hunting for me, because I'm not allowed to keep even a knife with a blade over 3" here in the dorms at Cal Poly SLO, let alone a bow or gun or a dog. I have no fridge to keep meat in, and no place to cook the meat.
Heres the other photo:
I've enjoyed a lot of goat hunting stories from you and Nic Barca on the Bowsite in the past. Great stuff! I want to do that long hike and goat hunt that you guys seem to do every year.
Yeah, Nic used to go goat hutning all the time. Every couple weeks he'd hike in there by himself and camp during rainstorms and floods. The kid has some balls. I went this summer, bagged two small billys on a one day hunt. I ended up camping in there for like 4 or 5 days but only succesfully hunted one day. Did a lot of hiking with my bow searching. Gut shot a good sized billy that day too, but he took off and there was no blood trail, sorry goat.
Eh Brah, nice pig & cool pix.
Good to see a local boy posting here on this forum.
What part of Kauai you from?
My Father was born & raised in Kauai (Makaweli Plantation) and most of my family on his side still live there (mostly in Kaumakani & others in Hanapepe & Kekaha).
Seems like everyone on the westside all hunt\fish.
DaMatRat: I live on the north shore side of the powerline, on Kapaka road. Never knew any people from home posted on here.
SpeckMisser: It'd be awesome if I could get some gear to go on a hunt, or if someone was willing to take me along. Nobody seems really into it though. And I dont want to be the squeaky wheel begging for a hunt.
Ev, it's not so much that some of us aren't interested but that we are locked into situations. Myself, I hunt a large ranch and the politics is getting real tiring. It is almost impossible to take people on there unless it is their friends. The new manager is taking over next January and his dad is a bear hunting partner of mine.
I already had a talk with him about the politics and he agrees but he said that we both have to control the old tempers till then so maybe next year. You got some great pictures and I have always heard that hogs are pretty popular over there.
