Howdy Folks,

Kilt a small mountain pig last week with the ole 22 Magnum,
was using Federal Premium ammo with the 30 grain Seirra Bullet
and it done it's job nicely

the rifle shown is the gray teflon coated stainless steel Ruger 77/22-VMBZ in 22 Magnum caliber and sports a 24 inch heavy barrel,
this rifle is a one holer when it comes to placing the bullet in the right place...lol

the pig weiged in at 30 pounds and hence the name ''pocket pig''

these kind are easy to tote out of the woods with one of the pigs feet stuck in your back pocket....hehehe
had to tote this little feller 875 yards back to the truck and these are the only kind i like to shoot when this far back in the woods

but talk about some good eating....hehehe

Hmmm....... I wonder if Barbara or Don at Tejon would let us take a "Pocket Pig" for 50. bucks, instead of the $300. Be a lot easier gettin out of the canyons! HAHA,,,,,,

That's one sweet looking rifle...is the Teflon finish offered from the factory or did you have it done somewhere else? As for the pig..I would have sent him home to tell his big brother I was picking on him...Again nice rifle.

Docc,
You need a deer cart.I used one here for deer season and it is a life saver.
Also,
My wife asked me today what I wanted for my birthday.
Guess I know now.

..Just curious..What was momma's reaction to Junior going down? The reason I ask is that I ran into a similar situation a few weeks ago, I saw 3 "piggy banks" about the same size, maybe smaller, still had their stripes/spots.. passed on them,I was hunting with my Super Blackhawk and thought a .44 would have just busted them up too much.Never did see their mom..but did play it through my head..Where was she & what would her reaction be? Happen to notice anything?

Take care

DILPRXO,

as to what the sows reaction was ?

the sow was feeding on acorns and slowly walking along when i had her in the crosshairs contemplating shooting when the little feller came into the scope picture
once i seen the little one i fergot about the big one and made the shot and upon the bullet striking the pig , it went into a high pitched squeal with a whole gang of hogs busting the brush going in several directions that i never new was there because of me looking thru the scope at the first one i seen
the 'Ma'' sow or at least the one i figured for the mamma headed into a thicket with the little one i shot in tow right on her heels a squealing but
the little pig only went about 40 yards before crashing

as for the rest of the hogs in the group ? they all left the area pretty quick after the shot and all the squealing .....lol

here is a little better info on the rifle i have, as they say sometimes a picture is worth more than words.....hehehe

they are very nice rifles that are well made but a little spendy for a 22
