BCBOY-AWESOME SHEDS!!! So what week should I turn vacation in
for?
<
I can be there on a sat. afternoon, that would
give us all week or should I put in for 2 weeks.
The only picture that came up for me was the top photo, not that it
wasn't enough.Great looking sheds!!
Did you find some of those sheds in the mountains sitting behind
you in the photo?
I really like that set of moose sheds.Do you find alot of moose sheds?
CONGRATS on a batch of excellent sheds.

BTW-if you wanna edit your post you would have to go over to the
little box to the right that says Edit.It should be next to Quote.
For some reason you don't have one.Don't know why?

We do find lots of moose sheds every year. The moose shed fence picture is only a small portion of the moose sheds we have found the last two years. My buddy, Kevin, has the luck in finding good clean moose sheds. I normally find the ones that are chewed out. Our biggest competion are rodents. LOL!
We find most sheds in the timber. I do have an area that I shed hunt a few hours away that is Sage/grassland. But I only make a couple trips every year in that country.
I average about 150 sheds a year. Most of those being mule deer. That doesn't include the large amount of chewed sheds that I leave hanging in trees.

You guys live in shed heaven, must be nice.
I am impressed with those moose sheds, with all your sheds.Do you ever find
any little sheds or do you just not bother with them?Must be bad enough on the
back now hauling the bigger ones out.
Do you have to worry about bears while out hunting?I'd be looking over
my shoulder all day and tripping over sheds.
<
I hunt up-state
Pa. for elk sheds and think about bears and all they have are black bears. You
do have grizzles in your area?Wouldn't wanna mess with one of those.
If you ever need help hunting those sheds don't be bashful.

Thanks for links to other photos, already have them saved in documents.
Good luck this yr. with sheds- like you really need it.

Here's some more pictures. The first one is a truck load of my smaller sheds. This is a couple months worth. I normally sell my smaller sheds. I sold a few of my trophy mule deer sheds once when I was hard up for cash. I really regret that now. I only sell my small sheds now.

This is a pile of my buddy Kevin's Moose sheds. Like I said, he had been lucky to find a lot of clean ones.

Here's a couple chewed muley sheds that my brother found. The top shed doubled would score over 245 B&C. The bottom shed doubled would score 220 B&C. Not bad for a 3 point mainframe.

And yes, we do run into bears quite often while shed hunting. Both Kevin and I work in the bush so we are quite used to bears. There are Grizzlies in the areas we shed hunt but I've yet to run into one while looking for sheds. My biggest concern though is cougars. There are a lot of cats in the area. Kevin has had two cats come after him. My brother had one cat come after him. I do carry bear spray in the spring in case of a cougar or bear close encounter. I can just picture some big ol' Tom hanging out in a tree and I come walking by with my head to the ground looking for a shed in the brush. Instant Tender Vittles. LOL!

WOW, is all I can say!! If the shed hunting is that good, regular
hunting with gun or bow must also be great.Do you do any hunting
in this area?

Believe it or not, I find alot of my muley sheds on a mountain side which is only a 3 minute walk from my house. I don't even have to drive anywhere to shed hunt if I don't want to. The area is very heavily timbered, so trophy hunting can be very tough. We've had a lot of years of mild winters that haven't brought the deer down onto the winter range until after the season is over. Season runs from Sept 10th -Dec 10th. It is a tough go to hunt these timbered areas without the quietness of snow. I have been fortunate to harvest some trophy bucks with my largest being a 11X9 30inch nontypical that scores 215 gross, 202 net.
All these sheds are the effort of my buddy and I. We cover a lot of ground. It is pretty much is a passion of our for 2-3 months in the spring and of course we pick up any shed we find in the fall.

Deershed,

Just remember trophies are in the eyes of the beholder........its just alot easier if you've got a truck load and half of them are 200 class.
<

I think I'll keep my collection to my self also!
