Hey all. Well, I've spent a few hours out and about this week so I thought I'd share some shots.

This shot was taken this morning just as the sun was rising. The White Pelicans grouped up as I have never seen them, riding ramshot over everything in their path. They were feeding heavily and herding fish into the shallows and tules, then beginning a feeding frenzy. It was pretty amazing. This one is of just part of the "gang" making the rounds.

This next one is from Sunday, a real quick stop to check out the area and I got lucky with a couple shots. This is a pretty heavy crop (about 40% of original), but something to look forward to.

Now, these are just simple Mallard shots from the local marsh. The light was a bit different and I was only 20 feet apart, but what a difference between the two shots.

Great pictures...love the lighting on the two mallards.

I probably won't get a pic like that until next spring when the sun comes out again.

Eric,
great photos. I really like the pelican shot. what iso did you use for your shots?

also, do you consider your 100-400 fast enough for low light shots and you are still able to keep a fast enough shutter? Big glass is in my future, but I dont want to fork out the $$ for a big prime if I can get by with a lens such as your 100-400.

Low light/poor high iso is my biggest frustration with my current setup.
