Didn't there used to be a kooke on here that swore you could kill a grizzly with an air rifle and such?

That was cool, however it is an air rifle, and a .22cal.

On a side note my great grandfather used a single shot .22short to kill his hogs, though these were penned hogs for eating, but I still have that rifle, also has quite a few marks where the hog didn't quite stop moving after one shot and he had to remedy that situation with the rifle itself.

just so you guys know it most likely was only a .177, due to the fact that they dont make pba ammo for a .22. the air rifle is probably their 1200fps shelf model and with the pba ammo it bumps velocity up 25%

CAN,

Dunno except what the GAMO rep told me when he first showed this to me. He did say they're really not moving any of their new .22 cal air rifles or ammo to the US, since the market isn't really here for them (his words, not mine). He told me the video was done with the .22cal and a custom rifle.

They do offer a rifle in their line that's advertised to reach that 1600fps with the PBA pellets, so you may be right... I don't know or care enough to go back and check. While I am considering picking up a .22 cal air rifle for turkey hunting (I have a couple of places where it would be my only option), I sure don't plan to go after hogs with one.

if they keep making these guns more and more powerful here soon you are going to have to have a backround check to buy one.

not only are they making more powerful, that one in the video is a toy compared to what they are using over in Europe and other parts of country, i.e. Dragonslayer 50... .5 caliber shooting 200 grain pellets

Well first of all this clip was part of a show that was on The Outdoors Channel. It was a stock 1200 fps GAMO Adult Air Rifle. The ammo that was used was a .177 cal Performance Ballistic Alloy (1600fps in that particular gun). The hunt was not staged with a penned animal. It was a real hunt using dogs to track the hogs. He also kills a 30lb hog with the same gun and ammo earlier in the show. That hog also dropped dead in its tracks. PBA is only available in the .177 cal in the US. If you go to GAMO's website you will see that .177 is the only available in PBA.

If you saw the show he first shoots through a 2X4 with the PBA. Then a paint can, then a boars skull twice(went clean through the bare skull). I have a Daisy Powerline 1000. With a lead penatration pellet my gun shoots through about an inch of wood. With the PBA my gun shoots through a 2 X 4. Clear evidence of its power to penetrate. @1250 feet per second = 853mph (supersonic). Easily shoots through a boars skull.

The Rifle was a .177 (GAMO does not offer the raptor ammo nor the rifle in question in .20 .22 or .25 in the U.S yet) and if you have Comcast on demand you can watch the "hunt" on the VS channel ondemand section in Sports and Fitness. I am not impressed with this clip and think no responsible ethical hunter should shoot an animal with something that if not perfectly placed ( I know all shots even from high calibre rifles and arrows with high grain arrowheads need the same consideration) will only injure an animal. Also the guy takes em in a caged pasture with Catahoula Hounds holding the hog at bay. I am all for dogs and am all for pig hunting but I am not going to risk injuring myself, my dogs, or my friends by shooting a potentially dangerous animal with a backyard pellet rifle. And if that hog was 180 lbs I have been shooting some 30 lbs pheasants and catching 75 lbs ling cod... If you don't believe the staged part look at the backround before the shot and if that is'nt hog wire I don't what is, and a young healthy pig with open field behind I fell would be kicking rocks to get out of there not standing with his head facing a camera crew two dogs and a hunter within 15yds...
