Somerset Man Wins Kentucky Bull Elk Tag Raffle

6/19/09

Frankfort, Kentucky - Chris Godby of Somerset won a raffle for the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation's bull elk tag at the Salato Wildlife Education Center Bourbon Sampler on June 13. Godby was one of 1,138 people who purchased tickets for the raffle.

"The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation would like to thank all of the participants in the drawing and we wish Chris Godby good luck in his hunt," said Chad Miles, development coordinator for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. "He will be guided by 'Kentucky Afield' television host Tim Farmer, and the hunt will be broadcast on the show."

Farmer's wife, Nicki, drew Godby's name in front of about 450 people gathered at the sampler. The net proceeds from the raffle garnered about $80,000.

"One-hundred percent of the net proceeds will go to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Conservation Camps," Miles said. "This money will provide scholarships for kids to attend camp and to help pay for upgrades to the camp facilities."
