well done Kid you too K_rad for taking him. you did make the right choice with staying back. Not only will the kids listen to someone else better. Parents make the kids more jittery just because it adds pressure. Helps with wives also.

Your son made an absolutely perfect shot. He said he was going to make a good shot and he certainly backed his statement up.

Taking young kids or any first time big game hunter on a guided hunt is a challenge. But especially kids are difficult. In the evening hunts 99% of the time they are extremely excited and can barely sit still to make a shot. Rarely do they sleep at that night and can barely get out of bed in the mornings. When those morning shooting oppertunity comes its a combination of being 1/2 asleep and the other half is adreneline. Put those 2 together plus a young first time hunter and usually its a missed shot. In this case it was a perfect shot. I don't see too many of those even with experienced hunters I've taken. Taking your son to the range and practicing certainly paid off.

Another person who deserves my personal thanks is Frank. I've been guiding for a few years now but when I bring the guys who I learned from to help me its that much better. Frank can mentally put a hunter in the perfect frame of mind especially those young hunters who's adrenaline and inexperience can get the better of them when it's time to squeeze the trigger. When I have young hunters I will bring 2 times as many helpers as hunters to make sure that we can spot as many pigs as possible so that a young hunter can get enough shots to get a pig. Thanks to a father who tought his son to shoot and a man who put his mind in a place to show off those skills it only took one absolutely perfect shot
