I busted the manual focus ring, the infared eye cover from the lens cap that was wound to tight from the string to the strap. I put some fletching gle on the manual focus and outer ring and will call to see if my 3 year waranty is still inservice.

Are you talking about a loose focus ring on your 707? A lot of 707s have had this problem (thankfully not mine yet)

There is a howto on how to fix it yourself. sending it in to sony may cost quite a bit.

Check out this guys guide, he gives full blown descriptions and pics on how to fix it yourself. you probably need to be mechanically enclined and sort of a no fear attitude. it is a pretty serious procedure, but successful

Well-

My fletching glue wore off of both pieces and I can clearly see how the 2 parts are help by the 3 internal screws-

Should I attempt this? Also- What should I use as lube for the manual focus ring gear? I got rid off all the lube that was on it- it was smearing the lens when I did my fix.
