Nothing like a good cup of coffee ... and watching wildlife ... here in Texas. I trap inside the Houston city limits. As I drove to check my traps this morning (8:30), I turned a corner and the bayou was black with birds. I thought they were buzzards. I stopped and glassed them ... it was crows ... and a sounder of 9 hogs.

I got out and walked towards them. The crows flew off ... but the hogs were oblivious. I was downwind ... but it was very light. I got to within 75 meters.

I watched them for over 10 mins. They never realized I was standing ... in the middle of the road ... with no camo and no cover.

They browsed and meandered into the woods.

A nice way to start the day off.

Cool photos RLL. Is that Buffalo Bayou? My inlaws used to back up to BB, between Wilcrest and Dairy Ashford. We were informed that pigs were that close to town, but never saw any. That looks to be a little further west maybe, out by Bear Creek or George Bush park? (I'm vaguely familiar with that area close to HWY 6).

Keep up the good work out there. One can't complain if you have a cup of coffee + wildlife, all within the city limits.

Yeah, Lan-Lord, it's Buffalo Bayou. George Bush park ... which is actually Barker Reservoir. It was built in the 50's to hold back water and mitigate the flooding in downtown. 12,000 acres totally surrounded by subdivisions, shopping malls and subdivisions.
