The 11th is a go. I'd like to meet in Healdsburg at 0 dark thirty, and carpool as best we can. Out of respect for the landowner, I don't want to parade through there with 5 trucks. As the time draws near we'll iron out the details....
I drove through the area the other day and saw three different flocks of turkeys moving around at mid morning. One was all hens, the other two a mix of jakes and 2-3 yr. olds. They were skiddish and tried to "regroup" after I drove by, telling me they're susceptible to be broken up then called back right to the archer. This has worked well for me in the past. Stay tuned and sharpen up

Howdy men.... Are you guys going to be up here already or are driving up that morning? That will determine where and how we meet. By the way, nobody has been on that hill in at least a month if not longer. The drive by I did was down in the valley. Should be nice and pristine

I was planning on driving up at oh-dark-thirty from the Bay Area and meeting in Healdsburg, time to be determined, but presumably an hour'ish before first legal light (?).

I completely understand the desire and necessity to not drive an armada of trucks into the ranch... FYI, I would be happy to volunteer my 4x4 quadcab, with camper shell in case it's raining, to shuttle dudes in and pigs out. Plenty of room in the shell to stuff ice chests, packs, bows, pigs, etc... I'm happy to ride with someone else too, but my truck hasn't been blooded, and it's white, so that might make fer some purty pictures!

Dang, my moderator privlidges are mussing-me up... FT, I accidently clicked "edit" your post instead of "quote", and I somehow deleted what you wrote about not driving from Fresno in one shot that morning... whoops!

Anyway, what I meant to do was this...

Sweet! Did you recently switch broadheads? I've got the Montec sharpener and I'm pretty skilled with it (which ain't saying much because sharpening Montec's ain't rocket science)... amazing how sharp those get.

...the joke is on me because apparently trying to quote your post was like rocket science and I pulled a Space Shuttle Challenger. Doh... anyway, sorry about deleting part of your psot, heck, you're probably glad I removed that stuff about Vegas and the sheep.

Warm dry wind blowin' up here. With more leaves on the grond and the extremely dry conditions, spot and stalk will be tough. I sure hope we get some rain soon

So I get an IM from my wife a little while ago.

"Whatcha doin' this weekend," she asks?

"Well, I'm heading up to Sonoma to hunt on Saturday," I reply.

"Guess what," she asks.

I already know where this is going, but I maintain a stiff upper lip and stab blindly. "We won the lottery?"

"No. I have to work on Saturday."

So that's it for me fellas... bowing out with tears in my eyes. You don't know how long I've been looking forward to getting back up there to hunt with Mike (and get some retribution on that boar that winded me last time). But it's not to be.

Have fun, and take lots of pictures.

BC, give me a call... I think you've got my number.

But I thought you guys were going next weekend, almost 2 weeks away? I knew that Speckmisser fake ID I had made up would come in handy

Dangit, Steve... got my hopes up! But it's next weekend... 11/11 that she has to work.

This weekend I'm heading up to BigDog's place to get some seed on the ground and help get things ready for winter.

Speck, Fear not. Like I said, I plan to not only be there when you stick that first one, but to also get it on tape. This gives us an excuse to do an overnighter and hunt the evening (which is better in my mind) as well as the a.m. Also, we can hit all three spots if need be.... stay tuned
<

PS-Did you others get my mail?

Oh yeah, I got the e-mail... I didn't reply because I've been dancing a jig I'm so excited. I'm also quite bummed that Speck can't make this one.
