Hello,
I have a young nephew who passed his hunter saftey course and now has his hunting license. Spenceville wildlife area is about 40 miles from his house. I want to encourage him so we’re going there before Thanksgiving. We will be taking a 22rifle and one shotgun. On our list is rabbits and any upland bird we can hunt in season. Looking for advice on areas for small game. I understand it’s a large area so any recommendations from hunters would be appreciated.

Tons of quail around the blackberry bushes. 90% of the blackberries have them in/around. Internet search the various California quail vocalizations and how they fly. Spenceville has robins and other song birds that a new hunter may mistake for a quail. Haven't seen much for rabbits there.
