Can't say I'm happy about them getting it but I kinda thought they would. I've run into troups of their guides over in the Pahvant and am not the only one to encounter their tactics....they had a "goon" on a quad blocking off a canyon forest service road. I've run into other hunters who've been strong armed as well while they work an area.

Surprised it took them this long. Goes to show if you've got the money, you can get a record. Bought a Mossback tape last year. Won't buy another. Never saw so many poorly shot animals in my life. Actually quit watching the tape part way through. Most disrespect I've seen on a hunting tape.

Cant say that I am happy to hear that either. Would have rather heard that a working class guy got him. While I was in Utah, there was talk that a guy paid $150,000 for the tag and $50,000 to Mossback. They got him within 150yrds on opening morning and he missed broadside. Words were exchanged and the guy got pissed and went home. Do not know how much truth is in it. Doyle and his crew sound to be as unethical as they get.

Denny Austad buys a lot of these types, Governor and such, tags. Wonder when the last time he drew a tag and killed something by himself?

All hunts of this type, ie. Governor Tag, should get the * in the record books. Just my opinion. I don't believe these hunts are wrong, they do raise a lot of money, but they should get the *.

Buying a Governor tag is one thing, keeping others away is totally different. I’ve seen a lot of tags (especially at FNAWS dinners) go for outrageous prices, but what can you do?

I found it somewhat funny running into a couple of guides with hunters on public land. I couldn’t get it out of my head that those guys just paid a Guide $2-$4000 to hunt the same area that I’m in. Now don’t get my wrong I’m all for Outfitters, Guides and PHs but when it comes to hunting on Public Land, in the lower 48 states, I don’t know.

Nothing wrong with governor's tag, I am all for them. But if people were trying to keep other hunters out of a public area that is just wrong. Had someone tried that with me, we would have had some issues. How much hunting would they have been able to do after I called the local sherrif and he came up sirens singing. maybe I would have just started honking my horn for a half hour nonstop. If it is true and they were doing that... well we all remember the FHL thread so I am going to leave it at that. I can't wait to see what he scored none the less.

Had anyone seen or heard of this bull before this season? Where are his sheds from previous years? Team Mossback spends a lot of time hittin the hills in the off season. Where's pics from previous years?
Maybe it's just me but something smells fishy about this bull. Sure looks like some high fenced raised bull.

Don't get me wrong these tags raise a ton of money for the Game and Fish Dept. I just hope the hunt wasn't like mentioned above.

i think the "word on the street" was that it could have been an escaped high fence bull from a near by operation that wound up on public land. i have not heard of anyone stating sightings of him before this year.

There's a gal who's family owns a craft shop here in Utah--all of her family members are big time hunters. She drew a Pahvant tag last year and shot a 380" class bull--the pictures are viewable on another popular site. Her brother produced his first big game hunting video and started selling it last spring. It's not a bad video with some good hunts.

Lacey told my wife & I a completely different story about her hunt--mossback outfitters in the Pahvant tried to "block her" and her brothers from getting that bull before they had their hunter there & set up. Her brother would not state publicly about this confrontation fearing a backlash from team mossback that could impact sales of his video or shut down potential distribution channels he has.

Anyway, there's big money in guiding and it's a shame that some people stoop to such tactics. Most outfitters and guides are stand-up people...but, there are a few who will throw any gentlemen ethics out the window to get their clients that trophy animal.....happened to the guy I hunted with in the Gila by Beaverhead outfitters in NM. One of Jack Diamonds guides ran past my buddy who working a bull with a client to try to get his client a shot....literally within 10 yards of my buddy. Crazy!!!! Ethics, out the window again. One of those deals....$4000 tag plus about the same for the guiding service...."but I have a paying client" was his lameazz excuse. And, Beaverhead outfitters has a forest service road permanently gated off as well next to their cabin. Two forest service roads that were in existance forever with, I'm sure, public easement...they slapped gates in front of 'em...the BS some of these outfitters pull off astounds me.
