I am looking to buy a new sight and unfortunately my local store doesnt have any in stock. I know there are multiple models (boss, tommy, hunter, etc), which models do you have or have you tried and what are the pros and cons? Some of them look very large/heavy, but like I said, my store didnt have any i could look at. I will be getting a 7 pin. Suggestions? Wrapped or not wrapped? Any issues you have had with yours?

I have only shot friends bows with spott hogg. SDP or their seven deadly pins as they call it I think... was on one and it had the wrap... It was really nice. also a tip you dont need the extra light thingy it is just not necessary. Also one rumor I heard was that Military get 40-50% off two items a year. I emailed them in regards but never heard back thats kinda the reason I havent bought one yet honestly. Great sight you cant go wrong IMHO

The military discount is correct according to my bow hunting friend. I have the Cameron Hopkins 7 deadly pins in a .010" wrapped. The fiber optic was getting old so I ordered new material from fiberoptics.com and re-did the fiber. Wow! It's awesome!

The adjustments are very positive, it has 3 axis leveling, it's light and tough. I would highly recommend it.

I disagree with jdjtexas. The light mounted into the wrap is awesome. More than a couple big game animals have fallen simply because of the extra 10 minutes the light gave me.

I have the Right On 5 pin. I can't think of a single complaint I could have with the sight. Since I initially sighted it in, it has made 6 airplane flights, drives to New Mexico and back twice, and 4 years of year-round bowhunting in CA... and it's never been thrown off.

......Who is Cameron Hopkins?????

Camron hanes SDP for me and is great no complants. only problem was with the white sticker around the housing. After some rain and time mine came off. I believe spot hog will fix just about anything for you but I simplly painted the ring myself. I do not have the 3rd axis and would by the model that does next time. Bullet proof. The wrap is great. When target shooting in extream sun the pins can be rather bright. Some guys fix up a cover with velcro to redues the brightness, I use a large rubber band to cover the wrap when really bright, the light is cool if hunting from blinds or target shooting at night, ect.

Thanks guys. I just got off the phone with them and they do give a 45% discount to all military. I am going with the SDP wrapped, .19 for the top two pins and .10 for the bottom 5. Cant beat that 45% discount. Thanks again for all of the help

This may be a dumb question but are the pins already ranged out from 20 to 60 for a 5 pin and 20 to 80 for a 7 pin?

Nope. You will need to sight in your bow. Too many variables to ship a sighted in sight.

That's exactly what I'd do if I were ordering one. Good choice all around!

seven deadly pins does not have the 3rd axis adjustment. not the ones i have seen.

Spot Hogg is FANTASTIC. well their sights are. i have the "hunter hogg it" i love it. i have the wraps which i highly recommend. i can sit in the tree waiting to ambush some animal, and watch the sun go down. it will get very dark and i look at my bow, and can still see my pins glowing. i usually bail, when i cannot see thru my peep. the pins still faintly glow. like a black hole, my fiber optics suck in light.

the hunter hogg is compact, so it wont have the long arm to float it way out there. i got the large sight ring, and it is mounted on the second hole from the front. my peep is 1/4th and it is almost perfect. the sight ring could be larger. i guess i can move it that last hole, but i'm satisfied. i can focus on the pins fine, i dont want to fuss with it. i love the gang adjust on windage and elevation. you turn an allen and the adjustment just glide along. you dont need to lock them down after that..they simply do not move.

i also have the 0.019 pins. my eyesight cannot support the smaller .010. my buddy with the SDP has all .019 except his 60-80 pins are .010. he is deadly accurate.

do not go bigger than .019 with the wraps. it will be TOO bright.

i like the 3rd axis adjustment for my western states hunting. i may sell my bow, but that damn sight will never go with it. i love it.

and that rheostat sight light is the best ever. it barely illuminates the pins. the light hits the fibers only, and it just lets the pin tips light up. not like those cheaper sights with lights that spray light on the entire thing. i find my eyes dialate with the light wash and i cannot see the animal anyways. the rheostat has low, medium and high settings. you just click it to the desire power output.

You're right Sancho: no third axis. I confused it for the previous sight......

Sancho,

The first website below is for the hunter hogg it, the second is for the hunter SDP. From what I understand the new SDP is the Hunter SDP.

Spot-Hogg Archery Products › Products › Bow Sights › Hogg It

Spot-Hogg Archery Products › Products › Bow Sights › Hunter

not so sure that is correct. the first sight is the "hogg it"

second sight is the "hunter hogg it" at least that is the one on my bow. i have a SDP in my garage..no 3rd axis.

whatever..those are great sights. the hogg it hangs too far out for my likes.

Anyone have the Black Gold sights. They claim to be the brightest out there but also have a photochromatic cover that gets darker if it is bright so your pins do not get too bright. Life time warranty as well. Am torn between the Black Gold or the spot hog. Anyone tried both?
