State takes key step toward preserving Tejon Ranch wilderness

It won't be long until homes start popping up on the ridges. Gonna be a sad day for me to see that. Get your explorer hunt permit and hunt Tejon before it's changed forever.

I guess it's better to conserve some of the ranch rather than letting all of it be developed? Am I missing something? I'm personally torn on the subject of conservation easements... I appreciate the fact that they help set aside lands to prevent development... but the taxpayers pay for it, and often the lands are not accessible to the public.

This might be a good thing. It appears the Wildlife Conservation Board wants the land to remain usable as a hunting area. Tejon wants to develop two housing areas, one near the base of the Grapevine and another just east of Quail Lake near Highway 138 but it appears that up to 240,00 acres will remain usable for the public. I hope it pans out that way.
