Just wanted to remind everyone that this is a family forum. Whatever your own opinion toward teaching our young ones, or toward those who are "easily" offended may be, bear in mind that JHP DOES care about presenting a relatively wholesome environment.

Please use language appropriate for mixed company. I don't like to edit other folks' posts, so please consider your word choice and make updates appropriately. The alternative to editing your posts is to remove the post entirely or to kill the whole thread, and I really don't want to do that to such an important discussion.

sorry specky. Did not realize the abb. for (richard) was a bad name. And no I am not starting a fight either. Just had the other post on My mind. But ya know people like this bug Me. You know this is a hard su**y place to hunt. With not alot of hope of bagging anything. They know that but they still choose to make it difficult t for us. So I guess it angers Me right? So I was just saying what I felt. You know if I was wealthy I would buy up land just for hunting.(FOR US) You know just the little people. I just am sick of all the cr*p here in Kalifornia. Everybody is against us & so on & so on. So example I am for using a word. Ban Me if you choose too. But come on dude did'nt realize ok. E-mail would be helpful. Trying My best to be P.C. without starting trouble.

wavesfr, I think most everyone understands your anger, dissapointment, and frustration. I know here in San Diego the best hunting land is private land. The best hunting on public land is near the borders of public land and private land, public land and State Park land and so on.

I have heard of some property owners or owners reps that go out and try and bust guys that are on pubic land, saying they are on private land. I have seen posted signs on public property and other stuff as well (fortunately, the Forest Service took them down).

Most land owners are decent people and are just trying to keep people off of their property and I don't blame them one bit.

I have never gotten a citation and don't plan to. I try to stear clear of places that I know are trouble. I don't want to get into a owner's word against my word. And I don't like to hunt, knowing someone is watching me, waiting for me to make a mistake.

I was turkey hunting several years ago in San Diego and a warden walked up on me. He had been watching me and said I had come very close to crossing the property line. He did not cite me, but it was not a fun experience. Note the warden did nothing wrong, was doing his job.

I do agree that keeping the language "relatively wholesome" is a good thing. I have seen other hunting sites deteriorate with the use of foul language and it is not good.

I would say that guy "Richard" sounds like a mean man, a selfish man, and a man who relishes in causing people displeasure. I don't envey the guy myself.

wavesfr, way I see it, you have leeway in expressing frustration with a shady character.

We're certainly not asking you to be "PC". In my book, at least, the PC mindset requires some oddball denial that such a shady character could even exist.

All we're asking here is to mind yer manners -- like you would in front of your grandma and the kids (well my grandma, and my brother-in-law's kids, at least

).

If we need to discuss this further, please let's take it offline and not disrupt the thread. Please believe me when I say there was no malice intended, and I was not singling you out. Yours was not the only post I referred to.

Secondly, I was in error directly editing the posts. According to "policy", Moderators are supposed to completely pull any posts with questionable content.... even when the infraction is as minor as yours. From here on out, that is how I will handle posts with foul language.

With that in mind, this plea goes out to everybody... please don't make us do that. It bites for you, and it bites for us... nobody wins.

If the warden walked up on you while you were in the middle of persuing game, then he did do something wrong. I don't believe even a warden can legally do that in CA without a good reason. And saying, "you ALMOST crossed the property line" is not a good reason.

Kikaha, actually I was calling a tom turkey. At least I thought I was hearing a gobble. Yes, I was basically "shaken" down while in the field hunting. He checked my shells for the shot size and my license and bird stamp and the plug.

I was not happy, but figured it was not a huge deal.

I have been studying my BLM map of Stockdale Mountain (not a very clear copy) and it appears as though the access point is marked at the end of Slacks Canyon Road and that seems to be where all the problems are. Although it is very faint and not very legible, it looks to me like there is a county road by the name of Big Sandy Road that crosses through the BLM property from the west side of the land. It branches off of Indian Valley Rd. which comes off of the Hiway 101 near Mission San Miguel. If the BLM land could be accessed from that side, perhaps there would not be the problems that occur on the eastern side. Does anyone out there have any information about this side of the mountain? I would like to avoid the trespassing issue and it would also be less driving for me as I live in Santa Cruz.

I live by that place,and know the warden good,warning its a spot were they like to trap hunters.Best bet to hunt Big sandy Wild life area(shotgun bow)area. Goto DFG's Guide to hunting wild pig on the web for more info on that area.

Last time I checked, it's not in a DFG warden's job description to entrap hunters. This may sound strange, but they are public employees, and we hunters are the public. Seems like they should try and help, rather than strong arm us for the benefit of their friends, oops, I mean the neighboring ranchers.

Hey bill I have'nt been in awhile. With My trips to canada & christmas & all. Birddawg went recently said it was dead. Only 1 pig. Why ya wanna go? I need to go somewhere pretty soon. With the rain & spring like weather might be good somewhere?

I just got my Hollister Field Office public land maps and all I got to say is: Where does my tax money go? The information packs on various parts under BLM control are good, but the maps, except for Clear Creek Management Area (Which is a top rate map), are cheap faded photo copy maps. Some are some-what readable and barely good enough, but the others are not. They are in the near worthless category. Call me naive, I just expected more.

Anyways, the Stockdale mountain map is not of good enough quality to trust to navigate. It tells you how to get there, where to park and that's about it. The topo map is of to poor quality to take serious. However, if you sat down with a GPS, loaded with the proper topo map, and really studied the cheap BLM map and marked "no cross" lines on the GPS, you could hunt there without getting into danger. The problem is no GPS and no sit down review and marking; you’re going to get into big trouble.

I think this whole thing stinks. I am not a conspiracy nut, but I think something stinks in Rotterdam (Is that the proper saying?). You have an aggressive land owner, hunting enforcement officers who live in the area who can take bribes, poor maps and a lack of proper boundary markers. I don't know about you, but that is a conspiracy if they ever were. The information packet even says the pig hunting is good at Stockdale Mountain. If it is good on public land, it must be great on private land!

Wavesfr, I was thinking of going in the next couple of months. I remember you said FHL is better for pigs after the bird seasons are over.

Guess where I just came back from....hehehehe..commando DILPRXO strikes again!!!!

...Wild hair idea..but a fun trip..turns out a new friend of mine has a Aunt that lives in Wasco..so I talked her into dropping me off at Stockdale this morning,cause she wanted to visit her Aunt.Got there late..about 6:30 am..which was good in away because the road in was still soft from the recent rains and being able to see the road in light helped...kinda felt silly though..camoed up in Dennys after breakfast in Lost hills..and she was laughing at me..I'm thinking hell..I ain't wearing this stuff for the hogs..I'm wearing it for the patrols.Lots more barbed wire there to mark private land portion than I remember being there last time I went.But still kinda silly..landowner puts up all kinds of barbed wire..but theres no signs on it marking it as private property.There are also some kind of earthquake sensor devices on the west side of the valley.Lots of fresh hog sign..only saw one other group of guys (3)about 11am..but didn't talk to in that I wasn't sure if they were a patrol or not...I think they were on a fringe of private..and I made an extra effort to say on BLM..this post kinda made me paranoid..Again lots of sign... hunted the bowl above the little spring in the back of the property, I saw 3 little "piggy banks" up in some really thick brush up there.They still had their spots and were maybe 30lbs apiece....but just didn't have to the heart to drop the hammer on something that young.Besdes I was hunting with my Super Blackhawk.. .44 wouldn't have left much to take home on something that small.Called her on my cell about 2:30pm...and started hiking back for the road...One things for sure..I've been spending too much time behind a keyboard.. that last slope up to the road really beat me this time

Had a great steak dinner at the Parkfield cafe though..all in all a great day

Yes, I think not having the vehicle there did put some odds in my favor...supposedly the patrols check the end of the road for parked vehicles to see if there is anybody back in the canyon..then they will wait/set up on you if they see it there. No vehicle...no set up

...the only way I could see this backfiring is if another group is parked there and they set up on them and spot you by mistake... I was wearing full camo and had acres of thick brush to play hide and seek in..

...Even if they did see her driving in..what are they gonna say..they got a girl in a truck..the only thing she had in it that was even slightly related to hunting was my large ice chest in case I got something down..I binco'ed the area before I came out to make sure the coast was clear..and if it wasn't I would have called her and told her to back off.(cell phone kinda sucked in the canyon though..had to get on a ridge to use.) My thought was to diffuse any situation by avoiding everyone.It made it fun in one hand..but was a big PIA in another...I wasn't doing anything wrong but here I am scheming like I was..finding a friend that was willing to do that for me,kinda rare(thanks again V

)... etc etc....Just to hunt an area that my tax dollars are supposed to provide me?.
