A Canadian goose with one wing frozen to the ice allows rescue workers to practice what they know.

Thanks, what cracks me up after I look back at the shots is the guy in the foreground in the shot titled "Got Him" looks like he is petrified, and the guy behind him looks as if he is thinking c'mon dont lose it here on me, like the guy always freaks out while doing something like this. Then the same guy in the preperation shot is tangled up in the rope. I got a good laugh out of it. But, if I were fallen through the ice, I'd want them there and have some experience in getting out to me and getting me back to the shore. I imagine that this type of rescue is a pretty frightful event, rope or no rope, nobody wants to dunk in an ice covered lake with the outdoor temps in the single digits.

That goose almost looks like a cripple. Wonder if he got winged?

I dont think that he was winged. He had thrown himself around so much while his wing was frozen in the ice that he had a compound fracture to that wing. Here is the front page of the newspaper that I gave the cd to, and a little write up. I shot quite a few of the other geese on this little lake and there sure are alot of banded ones.
