I was back out looking again today and found some laying a little different. My first shed was a old shed that looked like somebody tossed in the bushes. It had mud dried on the bottom and can't see how it would have gotten there.
Then later found another that hung up on a small branch before hitting the ground. It was only a couple inches off the ground. Not really weird but not to common either.
The two sheds that I thought were really weird were the 2 stuck in the ground. The first was actually frozen in the mud. When I went to pick it up I thought it was only under some grass. When I gave it a little jerk I heard something snap.It was about an inch of the tip of the one side of the Y on a little 3pt. side.It took me 20 mins. to dig out the tip that broke off with my knife.
Tha last one was the one I liked. It looked like a mushroom popping out of the ground. The pedicle side and a couple inches of antler were sticking out of the ground, almost half the antler. At the other end there was a Y at the end.

Very interesting finds! Max, let me know if you have any luck. I've yet to find anything in New York this year. I'm not convinced they've dropped yet. I'm going out again early next week, hoping to find something. I know where the deer are, but there aren't any sheds! Very frustrating, but I'll keep trying. Good luck!

Hey Deershed, I knew we could count on you for some great pics. I'm sure glad you've got the digital. Have you posted any pics of your past seasons kills on the Whitetail Deer forum? I'm jealous you're not having to slog thru calf deep wet snow.

Congrats on your recent finds Deershed. Cool photos also. I found 2 Thursday evening. I took some photos of them as they lay, but crossing a creek I found out how cold and deep the water was. It was only 3-3.5 feet deep, but sitting on my butt in strong current was quite the ordeal. I had my video camera in one hand and sheds in the other. I managed to keep the video camera above water and even held onto the sheds. Unfortunetly my digital was in my pocket. The camera is fine, but the disk got wet and I'm unable to retrieve the photos. I also got some photos of some awesome rubs and a cool non typical buck. I'm going to head out here in a few minutes and see if I can get some more photos of the buck and the rubs. I tell you I will walk the extra 1/2 mile today to cross where it is safe. It was a 3/4 mile walk with soaked clothes last time. Oh by the way the sheds were small ones, a little 3 point and a small 4 point.

I got lucky guys. I popped the floppy into my PC and the photos are there. The picks of the buck didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, but the rest are pretty good. I'll post them on here.

Glad your alright and your cameras made it too!! We had tempertures in the low 50's the other day and while crossing log jam I got thinking.Even with the warm temps. a fall in the creek would still end the day of looking. My biggest fear of falling in was always falling on the up stream side of the log jams I cross and getting stuck under water in the jam myself.
Before I started taking a backpack my biggest fear was losing a shed while crossing.I see you had no problems holding on to yours.LOL.

Shag-the only picture I posted was the piebald I took. This past season was a good one for me.Between 3 states I took some nice buck and had a better that average season.Maybe later I'll post a few pics.
BTW-depending where your at,most the snow is gone or patchy in my areas.
