Well, sorry you hate it...I am definitely not a road hunter either. I've hunted deep in that place more time than I care to admit and have not had the success you had, so congrats again!

My point was that there are a lot of people out there that won't put in the time/effort you did, and will wait for others to do the hard scouting work. Good chance they won't go as far or deep as you did, but pigs are smart and even a little bit extra pressure they will move out.

But whatever, my comment was not to detract from your success. It's a very big deal to do what you did. I think it's over 90% of all pigs tagged in CA are off of private land...and of that 10% or so, many of those are from limited access public areas like Lake Sonoma, FHL and a few others. You did good.

I do hate it, but can also understand his mindset about not want the spot to get "blown up" but like you said, you still have to put in the effort, it's not like shooting fish in a barrel.

Hmmm, L2H never shows me his honey holes. He only shows me the dead pigs he pulls out of the honey holes. :)

Congrats DuckFever.

Congrats, it is not an easy place to hunt. And there are no secret spots, everyone knows about them...

A lot of it was a combination of luck, advice from L2H, weather and just being in the right place at the right time. Just glad to have some pork to put in the freezer.

You are right........I didn't show you any honey holes......I just showed you the black spots scurrying uphill the opposite side of the canyon and the black 4 legged creatures walking across the road while you look at them with your rifle scope at 100 yards. XD, next time we should only show MDN the honey holes, not those black creatures that goes oink oink.

Back home there's a ceremony called "Spice Him Up" that we do to the guys that had the scope crossed-hairs on a good animal and failed to pull the trigger. Grind up some red Thai chilli peppers and wrap it around his water pistol. Then let him dance.

XD planted some of these peppers on his backyard. Bring some next time XD.

Haha, you guys are never going to forget that day huh? I tell you, those pigs must have been moving at 100mph. I don't think I should show my face at FHL until I kill a pig. My water pistol might never shoot the same again. DuckFever, you wanna help me out by showing me L2H's honey hole? haha

Laguna Mtn is far from a "secret". There are few weekends in the winter/spring when that place isn't infested with hunters. Especially the holiday weekends. It may wane some in popularity then one of the regional; hunting rags has a piece on it and folks are back in there. There were a couple turkey hunts I did when I lived in Monterey county where I had the place to myself. but they were usually mid-week.

Congrats on that pig. Getting one out of there makes it very much a trophy.

Congrats Duckfever. Thanks to all those that helped you out too. Never been to Laguna Mtn up there but from what I've read here it's a bitch to hunt.

Congratulations, the good ole days are back again! We used to shoot pigs there all the time. Know every square inch of that place, plus the surrounding private land too. If you were into poison oak down lower at Sweet Water Spring, don't get it on your private parts like I did. That stuff is the worse on the planet.
