Myself and two friends went pig hunting with Kyler Hamann on Tuesday 6/15 and Wednesday 6/16/04 in Parkfield.

You can see the results below. My two friends made excellent shots and took both of the black pigs (about 120 lbs each) on the morning of 6/15.

I didn't get a shot until the morning of 6/16, and after missing two different pigs (note to self: practice field shooting techniques before next pig trip), walked to within 50-60 yards of the brown colored pig and shot him in the spine. I finished him with a head shot from 10 feet.

Kyler runs a first-class operation, IMO. His service is worth every penny.

I've never heard of the place but it sure looks like fun. Congragulations on the nice pork.

Those picts look way too familiar. I've spent a many of hours between the trailer and silo in the first picture. Kind of feels like my home away from home lately.

Congrats on the pigs. The ranch you shot them on is a beautiful piece of property that is owned by some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Hunting has been pretty good lately, which is evident by your photos.

Congrats on the pigs Zippy. What is the price on his hunts? Do you have any contact info for this hunting outfit?

Much appreciated,
Jess.

You can find additional info on Kyler and Dwayne's operation at:

http://www.boaring.com/

Basically a two-day hunt (which translates to four trips into the field: morning, night, morning, night) is $350 per hunter, plus $250 for each pig. If you have Kyler/Dwayne take care of your food and lodging arrangements, it's more.

Personally I think this is a reasonable price. You're paying for their expertise, yes, but mainly you're paying for the access they have arranged to various ranch properties.

Try it, you'll like it.

After several mostly fruitless pig hunting trips on public land, I'm convinced this is the optimal solution. Take a look at the hills in these shots below (Los Padres NF, not far from Arroyo Grande, late 1980's) and ask yourself how much you'd enjoy packing 60-80 lbs of dressed and partially de-boned pig carcass out of a canyon bottom to your car, parked 1500 feet above on the ridge road? I guess once upon a time I coulda done it, but I'm too old and fat now.
