well we headed out just about 12:30pm. it was my cousin and i and four dogs{buddy, duke, big lou the pup and the newest addition to my pack cooter}. we turned out buddy and duke at the creek bed. they worked thier way up the creek then back to us. we decided it was time to hit the brush area thats been producing lately. the dogs worked that whole area over real good but no hogs.

now we are off to one of the ponds on the property that is completly surrounded by super thick stuff. we got setup on a nice high point and i decide its time to let cooter run with duke and buddy. i must say it was like he has been hunting with them all along. someone or sometwo :pull-shades: did one hell of a job raising him up:not-worthy::not-worthy:. we sat there for a little while where we could see the dogs work.

it is now close to 3:00. the dogs come back to check in and we figure its time to head over to an area that hasnt been hunted in a long while. on they way there buddy and duke take off down a dry creek bottom. so we wait.and wait. about a 15 or 20 min later they come back and we continue our trek.

needless to say we hit every single brush patch and water source on the way. its now 4:15 and we are cresting a ridge overlooking a large portion of the property. i thought the dogs could use a drink so we headed down to the creek. as soon as we reached the creek bed buddy took off like a puppy with duke and lou following siut. i knew this was it so i got ready to let cooter loose.

five secnds later buddy sounds off. i turn out cooter and befor he is out of my sight i hear squealling! i look up and see three decent sized hogs sidehilling directly across from me. about 30 feet behind them come all four dogs. i look at duke and notice that he has a little stripped football by the back leg holding his head up high and running full blast. he droped it just then and lou just stops and watches it for a second and the keeps on with the pack.

its not long untill they are out of sight but we can hear that the dogs have one bayed up and they arent far away. we get to the scene and i only see two dogs. buddy and lou had a nice boar bayed up in the most impenatrable patch of poison oak ever. they couldnt get in there but he wasnt gettin out either. my cousin shouts that he hears some barking just over the ridge so i tell him to head that way and see whats going on and ill take care of this one. i mange to belly crawl and weave my arm through the vines. eyeball to eyeball with the pig i give him a quick one at point blank. DEAD PIG.

no time to waste i head over the ridge and see cooter on the sidehill barking away. two more steps and i see the hog. just as i think to myself " where is duke" here he comes blazing past me to help cooter. back and forth they went for a good 3 or 4 minutes. both of the dogs got touched up a little by the hog but continued to stay right in her face. she made a break for it and heade back down towards the creek. i knew that as soon as she hit the creek the fight would be on. she dove down the 15 foot cliff with cooter and duke right on her tail. they kept her bayed up untill we got there. i give the pistol to my cousin and we slip down into the water and..... BANG.FLOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A HUNT!

now the fun part is over. we leash up the dogs and head back to the first pig. when we get there we figure its time to head back befor it starts raining. we still have an hour and a half hike home. turned out to be a good choice . it started dumping about 45 min from the truck. we get back, unload the dogs, fix up the ones that need fixin and call it a night.
up at 4:45 to go get the hogs. we boned them all out, took a couple of pics with my phone and headed out to take the kids to school by 8.

here is a pic of the sow
