Calibers ranged from .270 to .300 weatherby at ranges from 50' to 400yd. +. Last pig didn't make the photo shoot, it was the biggest.

And look'it those big size hogs in the right side of the picture. Man 'o man, those are probably 250+ lbs. Talk about whacking those big piggies with a .300 Weatherby Magnum, Oh Boy!!!! That will definitely anchor those big hogs. Well Done Gentlemen. 'Nuff said.

Ok here is the long version. This hunt was for a couple meat hogs so we could make sausage for our DU dinner in March. There were 11 shooters from all over the bay area or valley. We all are friends one way or another. Ranch is leased by one of the committee members. It is located between Gilroy and Los Banos. Met up about 6am then split up into 2 groups. Large group went east and we went south. Our group had 3 of the shooters in a jeep. We saw 6 hogs at about 400-500yds. Decided to wait since it was still early. Go over the next hill and there are 4 more large pigs coming down. We bailed out to cut them off. Whole area is green rolling hills with many little cuts and draws. Oak trees are scattered everywhere with thick brush in the bottom of the draws. Anyway the group of 4 got passed us somehow, so back up to the jeep we went. Large group calls on the radio and says they shot 2 out of a group of 6 that crossed in front of them. Now their heading to a big bowl to make a push. We went as fast as our willys would go to meet up with them.
The group was spread across the ridge when we got there so we went down to the bottom 3 fingers to cut off the pigs. All the creeks were running about 6-12 inches and the ponds were all full. Shortly after the push started one guy sees a group of maybe 20 hogs rooting. He picked a shooter and let it fly. At the report all hell broke loose. Pigs sqweeling 2 dogs baking and everyone ylling where the pigs were going. We stayed silent down below so to surprize any passer-bys. About 20 minutes go by and a group of 4 goes by at high speed. We moved down top cut them off but they went back up except for one huge boar that went out over the ridge. My dad and another guy moved back up while myself and one of the younger non-shooters stayed low. About 5 minutes latter 2 shots ring out from my dads spot. Seconds later a pig comes running towards us down the ridge. Rudy was sitting on a log and didn't see it coming. I told him "stay still", pig comes to a stop not 50' from us and looks around. I move around a tree and the pig starts for the thick cover in the draw. I tell Rudy cover your ears and took the shot. Rolled him(high neck shot .270) it stumbles to its feet and keeps going. One more head shot and its done. Gutted and dragged pig back to jeep after dad comes down. He hadn't shot someone else did but didn't connect. We all met back at the jeep and collected to harvast. 6 pigs there.
Made one more push on another large canyon. We took trucks to the bottom and set up on a high ridge. The group below pushed out 1 huge pig at about 420yds from us. Scott takes a shot with his .300 weatherby, I shoot (.270) and 5 more shots ring out from below( 7 mags, 30-06, and .270) Pig drops. Loaded up everyone at ther bottom as 2 guys go up to gut and drag. Pig was hit 4X (2 head and 2 frnt shoulder). After pictures and 2 and a half hours of skinning we loaded up and headed for the butcher. Milpitas DU dinner will have plenty of sausage and what's left we will split up between us.
