Got a nice hog with the dogs Sunday. The last two months have beeen tough. My strike dog has had three surguries, in that time. Plus we are working all young dogs. Started in on foot at day break. Scattered clouds, and a little drizzle. About half a mile in we switched my female with a male we had out. She ran around happy to just be loose. About 200 yards later she headed up a mostly open hill side. The other dog loose went up after her. I could see them about 500 yards up the hill. There were some benches, ravines, and some brush up above them. Then she dropped out of site. A few minutes later I heard a bark, then I saw the male dog running toward where I last saw the female. We had the wind blowing pretty hard in our face, and with them to our left it was tough to hear. We started to run up the hill. We then turned two more dogs in. As the othes dogs ran past my 11 month old pup wanted to go, so I turned him in. As I got close, I could hear the dogs fighting the hog, and I could tell they had the hog caught. I estimate the hog at 160 170 lbs. We let the dogs work for a while, and I got a couple photos. We were back at the truck by 9:00am, and headed for home. It was a great morning hunt, and I was proud of how hard all the dogs worked, especially considering they are all young.

Nice catch. In that first pic, it looks like the unvested dog has a wound on it's side. Was this from the hog?

Good Job on your catch. How is that BMC working out. Flat broke came over about a week ago and looked at my female Catahoula but never heard from him since. Glad to see your young dogs are working out great.

She did get a couple small pokes to her right front shoulder. But nothing you can see in the photo.

Are talking about the 11 month old pup I got from Bob Fogel?

If so he is great. He acts like he has been on 30 hogs, and it has only been 3.

He is the light colored dog in the photos.

The dogs are from 45 to 55 lbs. 160 is an estimate, I don't ever weigh them. They will hold them, then we use a pistol, or a lever action rifle.
