We had 5 dogs there, one is just camera shy. How many depends on the hunt, and who's there. We hunt with anywhere from 2 to 6 dogs.

They are Razorback cut vests. They are made of an outside and inside layer of cordura, and a middle layer of kevlar. Not bullet proof, but sure cut down on the number of vet bills.

The thick leather one's are good for catch dogs. They resist cuts as well as help with the impact. This helping because of the nature of their job.
The hounds and cur dogs need to be able to move freely. The cut vest does not restrict the dog too much.So thes are better for the hounds.

Thanks for the info . I have been thinking about getting a couple of dogs for hog hunting. Not real sure where the best place is to find them though. Guess it is like cars, alot of them for sale, just not all are good ones.

You will be hard pressed to find a good dog at a reasonible price. Where are you located? I may be able to give a little direction, of let you know who not to buy from.

HntrPat, looks like bear hunting got the better part of my attention this year, I don't think I managed to get any of my females breed. I'll have to try again next cycle. better that way cause i've needed all of them on these boars I have been getting after..

do you have a dedicated catch dog you turn out??
The only time i went we had 4 or 5 dogs out searching and when they bayed a hog we sent in the catch dog (about a 35 lb pit bull). Its amazing how quick a hog will give up when a dog is on there back ripping them a new one.
