This will be the last set you will ever need to buy. And congrats on the pending purchase. While there isn't a Cabela's near you there is a Bass Pro in Rancho. Prices are the same excluding sales tax.
can't go wrong with Swaro, I got a pair of 10X50s off of e-bay,new in the box got to use them one time. Made a mistake and let the wife try them...........had to buy another pair for me
. Looking at the 15X56 with a doubler lens now to use instead of my spotting scope.
DON"T
If you put a doubler on that, then you'll have a useless spotting scope because it'll be a 30x56 it'll have a 1.8 mm exit pupil. That means it'll gather in very little light.
Better to go with the 15x56 alone.
Personally, I stuggled for a long time on deciding between the 15x56 or the 8x56 and a doubler.
I chose the 8x56 because it gathers in the maximum amount of light ( 7mm exit pupil) I can see in the dark with these. And if I need a better look at something I put the doubler on and I've got a 16x56.
I have a pair of 8.5X42 EL's and a 20-60x65HD spotting scope. If you're a tree stand hunter then maybe they aren't worth it. If spot and stalk is you're preferred method then YES, they are worth the money! The customer service is second to none and they are the best optics on the market today.
Im a treestand hunter and have 10x42ELs and the 20-60x80 spotter. I cant imagine life without the binos. Being able to look through tree branches and tall grasses and still make out what is on the otherside is priceless in my book. I love the spotter for my preseason scouting.
I hear ya brother. They make the best glass on earth and my advice to any hunter who can afford them would be...BUY THEM. From my personal tree stand experiences I don't use my binos as much as I do when I'm spot and stalk hunting......of course, I've never climbed a tree without my Swarovski EL'S!
Ok, here's the next question. I do mostly spot and stalk and safari style. Which pair to buy. I've been partial to 10x50's for alot of years but Swaro has the 10x42's. They weigh less and are slightly cheaper. Any significant difference that anyone's noticed?
I'm interested in low light conditions (early morn/last hour) and it was the reason I've stayed with 50mm. Any thoughts?
I have the SLC 10x42's and use them for elk, deer, pigs, bear, and yotes from dark timber to high alpine. They work great and the light gathering is extremely impressive....honestly don't think you'd regret'em.
10x50's are going to gather more light but I don't think the size and weight are worth the small amount of light gathering ability it has over the 10x42. I use the 10x42EL and can glass in the morning well before I can see clearly with the naked eye. I personally think the 10x42 is the best all around glass out there.
My wife hunts with me. She won't pull the trigger but she likes to glass for animals. I have 2 swarovskis, an 8x20 and an 8x56 and she uses both. I bought a pair of 7x Steiners at a swapmeet for $10 and a 10x Wind River Leupold for $8. The 4 of us ( My wife and I and 2 kids) were trading off binos from inside my truck and when my wife looked through the Steiners she immediately pushed them away and cried out " What are these"
