Is the swine flu changing your hog hunting plans?

Nope... while this influenza variant apparently transmitted from pig to human originally it was from domestic/livestock pigs. While wild pigs can have their fair share of diseases, swine flu is not one I'm worried about.

As of right now, there's no evidence that it's directly related to contact with any pigs, domestic or wild. There were a lot of folks pointing fingers at a big Smithfield Farms pig farm in MX, but health officials have so far not been able to make a connection.

Yes, I think I will catch up with my fly fishing over on the Hawaiian Islands. Maybe, give the wife some equal time, and go shopping with her at Waikiki. We will be flying with our blue masks in place.:wavin hello:

I agree with hifi. I am more concerned with domestic hogs than wild ones.

Texas officials are saying there isn't a problem with their wild pigs and people.

Its an "unfortunate" name for a flu.

In this country, every year, CDC reports 35k flu related illness's. This recent outbreak of H1N1 has resulted in ONE fatality on US soil, and that was a foriegn national. H1N1 facts can be found here. CDC - Influenza (Flu) | Swine Flu and You

Personally, I believe normal hygiene practices while dealing with wild game should apply, gloves, washing ASAP, cooking meat to the recommended.

If it was called monkey flu, I don't think it would cause all this hype.

Did you read where egypt ordered the entire pork population destroyed?

No, swine are not transmitting it to humans.
It's human beings from mexico who are spreading the disease, it's not the swine I am avoiding contact with...

And I heard joe biden making some comments about "avoiding contact with others in confined spaces"...

We had planned this fishing trip to Hawaii at the beginning of the year, and we can't chicken-out now. I went all over trying to find those blue surgical masks, but no one had them. I finally found one package of "Surgical Grade Masks" at a welfare pharmacy, and they are blue. They come 5 in a package, and I gave one to my mother. The other 4 are for our trip to Hawaii next week. One for each of us on the way over, and one for the each of us on the flight back. Surgical masks are almost impossible to fine now, but here is the brand and part number if anyone wants to try for them:

Flents High Filtration "MAXI-MASK" stock number #F405-605
Apothecary Products, Inc.
Minneapolis, MN 55337
1-800-328-2742

Made in China

not worried about it at all.the regular flu kills people every year.I think this is getting too hyped up and there are much more deadly things to worry about if you want too. I'm just going about my life like I always do.

Honestly, no. In my opinion, while it is obviously a possible problem, at the moment there isnt nearly enough evidence for people to be calling it an epidemic, let alone a pandemic. Its mostly just the "soccer moms" out there that are freaking out, the same people who use Lysol wipes on their kids every time they touch something. Just my 2 cents...
