Tail length as age indicator? I watched a show where there were hunting at Camp 5 Outfiitters in NoCal and Doug Roth mentioned the tail length was a good indication of age. Do you find this true?
Never heard of it but maybe you should add it to your research graph of chest dimension vs weight. I would be more than curious to learn about the ages of the hogs that we typicaly hunt.
The best way to tell a hogs age is by looking at the teeth on the lower jaw. At least this method is the most accurate I have found. Tail length could be used as a guide but I have not used the tail or looking at body size to judge age. I'll have to call Doug and get some input on his method.
