I bumped into a guide for the Tejon ranch yesterday at the local Costco. I asked him about the hunting situation on the ranch. Either he didn't know or he was avoiding a direct answer to my questions. The most I could get out of him was that the ranch is currently guiding hunters on the ranch. He called it a "soft" opening (???). When I asked about the pig management hunts he gave me an "ah-oo" glance and said he "thought" the pig hunts would resume this fall but with several "changes". He changed the subject very quickly after that answer. I didn't want to press him too hard for an answer. He's a personal friend and his looks/mannerisms told me he was reluctant to give me any more info. Soooo....same-same..... nothing definite. I was struck by one thing. He brought up AB1221 (the anti-dog bill) in reference to the hunting program changes. I hadn't mentioned it at all during our conversation. Tejon must be discussing this issue as it relates to hunting on the ranch but in what context (will the ranch ban dogs or are they just discussing the ramifications of the law if it passes?) was unclear. Hmmm....
