I bumped into a guide for the Tejon ranch yesterday at the local Costco. I asked him about the hunting situation on the ranch. Either he didn't know or he was avoiding a direct answer to my questions. The most I could get out of him was that the ranch is currently guiding hunters on the ranch. He called it a "soft" opening (???). When I asked about the pig management hunts he gave me an "ah-oo" glance and said he "thought" the pig hunts would resume this fall but with several "changes". He changed the subject very quickly after that answer. I didn't want to press him too hard for an answer. He's a personal friend and his looks/mannerisms told me he was reluctant to give me any more info. Soooo....same-same..... nothing definite. I was struck by one thing. He brought up AB1221 (the anti-dog bill) in reference to the hunting program changes. I hadn't mentioned it at all during our conversation. Tejon must be discussing this issue as it relates to hunting on the ranch but in what context (will the ranch ban dogs or are they just discussing the ramifications of the law if it passes?) was unclear. Hmmm....

Interesting update. Sounds like there are unresolved issues yet. We have no choice but to wait and hope for the best.

I haven't been following this issue too closely so forgive me....but if they got in trouble for shooting lions, why are the public being kept out from hunting pigs?

It totally baffles me....Especially since they charged such a premium to hunt there. You would think the loss of revenue is hitting them, but obviously it is not since they are taking their own time and not releasing any information. I wonder what the real story is there.

Just call fish n game and ask what happen they will tell you everything. I was told by a tejon native that there's more into it that the lion's Tejon not saying. I heard they got there licenses revoked for a year or so. I don't know if it's true or not and I don't care there will be pigs other places.

Tejon's licenses (PLM agreement, hunting club license, guides licenses, etc.) weren't revoked. Guided hunts are currently being conducted and still bring in money for the hunting program. Only the non-guided hunts have been temporarily suspended. As the Fall hunting seasons approach, I'm hopeful that this will change.

Ha.....The issue occurred from Guides shooting lions. Non-guided hunters gets the suspension. WTH!.....That is like the bank teller stole the money and the bank customer goes to jail for it. I guess higher price hunts takes higher priority.

Who gives a S*** if the guides where shooting lions. All I hear from DFG is that our deer population continues to fall while lions are left un-managed and un-checked. Hmmm wonder why there are less and less deer? I hope this place opens back up. The DFG needs to grow a pair and recommend a lion reason and F putting it to a vote, just open one for the good of the wildlife in the state

While I can understand your frustration DFG doesn't have the authority to do what you are suggesting. And since it's a criminal offense, no one at DFG is going to authorize hunting lions until the law is changed.

At this time, I am, like most other hunters, waiting for some kid to get killed in some suburban backyard by a lion. Not just mauled; killed and eaten in front of the kid's uber liberal parents who are helplessly watching it happen while dialing 911 and taping it on their cell phone. And while this will be horrific, the backlash will rescind the mtn lion hunting ban so that DFG can once again "manage" these animals.

I would rather not see it happen. However, until the panty waists who currently control our State and local legislative branches get ridden out of town on a rail, we just have to hope that it doesn't happen until these people stop being so blind to the risks.

Whole thing has to air on Youtube or it won't matter how many people disappear from "alleged" Kitty-kat attacks...

Some of you guys need to come to grips with the fact we'll never be able to hunt cougars again in CA. Doesn't matter how many kids get dragged off, you're up against cat lovers and the Mountain Lion Foundation who smoked us at the polls last time.

As far as the Tejon haters,

i think the problem is they dont want to upset any of the people who hold the key to their development plans ..which will bring in a million times what hunting brings in...i have seen the masterplan before and it is massive...
