Hey all, just wanted to get info on my problem and see what options I have. I gave a bobcat skin to a taxidermist last December and was told it would take about 4 months to be completed. I told him no problem and gave him 50% deposit and 4 months past and he still wasnt finished and would tell me couple weeks. Every time i called him he would still give me the same story, couple weeks. And now i call him, he doesnt even pick up and return my calls. I dont know what to do. I contacted DFG and they said they will look into it. Any advice will be appreciated.

I would show up and ask him what the problem is. Some of them just take to much work on and can't get it out in time.

I've had that happen a couple of times and it always came down to my stuff being jammed in the back of the freezer and being overlooked.

Show up in person and be cool, just explain you feel chumped and then let him explain.

Once thats done you will know what step to take next.

When I had to do that my stuff got finished ASAP and came with an apology. The last time it happened the guy was so cool he is now my go to guy.

To me they are artist and worth waiting for good work.

A lot of the people I dealt with sent the hides out to get tanned. So rather than do them one at a time the saved them up and sent them out say 5 or 10 at a time. Ive seen these guys take a year to get hides done.

All depends on what he told you. The guys I know that took a year, told me so ahead of time.

According to him, he sent it out to get it tanned. When i talked with him 2 months ago he was already starting to mount it. I requested a life size mount. He told me to call him up in 1 week so I can go pick it up. That was two months ago. I am probably going to stop by his house this coming week and see what the problem is. Thank for the reply guys. I'll post the pic if I ever get it.
I am going on a guided hog hunt and would like to mount my hog and most probably going to choose another guy. Any suggestions on a taxidermist in the Los ANgeles area?
