Here are a few more video clips from the weekend.

After blowing the opportunity with the .44, I moved down to glass across a hell-hole. I always see hogs here in the evening, and this was no exception.

Target acquired!

Steve was dragging his hog back to the truck, so I didn't have anybody to film the setup and shot. It was pretty easy anyway, as I worked down to a tree where I could get a good rest. I ranged her at 108 yards, a chip shot with the Savage 30-06.

At the shot, I momentarily lost her in the recoil, but caught sight of her starting to fall. The crash of branches and limbs as she went down the hill told me all I needed to know...she was down for the count. After several seconds of crashing, there was a sudden silence. A split-second later, there was a HUGE "smack!" as she went over a cliff and dropped into the bottom of the hell hole.

She bled pretty heavy from the double-lung hit, and the creek was full of bloody, red water. It wasn't hard to figure out where she lay.

There she is!

When I found her, I was looking through the viewfinder screen of the camera. The image wasn't too clear, and so what I thought was a boar's genitalia turned out to be a single, absessed teat. I wasn't disappointed, though, since I was looking at a lot of really great meat.

Correcting my error.

Then, of course, the work began. A ton of thanks to Steve (Chirohunter) and Wayne (Canadagoose) for the assist in packing her out.

Saturday evening, I took Wayne back to that area to see if we could get him a hog. He had a similar opportunity to mine, and after thinking about the recovery effort and the distance of the shot (250+ yds), he decided not to take the shot. Good thinking!

On the way back up the ridge, we heard a snort. Still not sure if it was a cow or a hog, but Wayne went into stealth mode and dropped over the edge to look around. For a new, big-game hunter, he moves pretty good.

Sneaky Wayne.

I've got some more to put up...I'll share those as soon as they're done.
