Here is the story,

The hunt started last wednesday afternoon, saw a ton of deer, elk, bobcats, turkeys, and coyotes but didn't see any pigs until thursday evening. We put a stalk on a group of 8 pigs and got blown away by the wind. The pigs were only moving right at sunup and sundown. Friday morning spotted another group of pigs a mile away, set up in a place we thought they were going to feed too and sure enough they came right to us.My partner shot the Sow out of the group at 275 yards across canyon and sealed the deal,I was unable to get a shot at the time because the rest of the group boned out. On the way out of the canyon I spotted this Boar on the side of hill heading to his bedding spot. The damn thing looked like a RHINO running along the hillside I couldn't believe my eyes!! With a little luck I was able to get a couple rounds in him at about 140 yards on the run and sealed the deal. On the hook at the butcher shop he was 140# so i think he was pushing 300# on the hoof. The area I shot him at was called Tunis Canyon on the north side of the ranch. This is the first big pig I have shot and what a trophy he is. I dropped him off at the taxidermist today!! It was an awesome experience all together, the property is beautiful and the wildlife is awesome.I met alot of good people there and would like to go back again someday.

Traf1er,
Congratulations!!!! What a booootiful boar and sow. Very, very rewarding. Enjoy the scenic, animal abundant Tejon Ranch while you can. Tejon is only 60 miles from downtown Los Angeles, a very commutable driving distance. The pressure to develop Tejon cannot be stopped due to this proximity. Wish it was located in a more isolated location like the Cuyama Valley between Santa Barbara and Tejon Ranch. As it is, Tejon is frontaged to Freeway 5, the main artery from the Mexican border to the Canadian border. It is a very heavily traveled artery and any investment along that route within 60 miles from a major city like L.A. or San Diego or Sacramento or Portland or Seattle or Vancouver will boom. Sigh!!! Tejon will not last long as it is prime real estate for development. All the marketing surveys will bring that out. God Bless and 'Nuff said.

Damn nice hog!

Hope there's at least one like that left by Memorial Day. I need to shoot it in a deep, dark, hellhole so I can get some of these guys to help me haul it out.

Congrats! That's a monster boar. Great teeth. Looks to me like he would have been 250+ dressed out. Great pics too.
