I'm glad you guys went 50%, thats pretty good. I'm also glad to hear Speck got a hog too. No one was saying anything and I was wondering if he nailed one or not. Way to go Speck. Looking forward to your write up.
Splitting the pot is fair.
My hunt on Saturday morning started off real slow with a quick hike up about 300 feet to the middle of this ridge to do some glassing, As the sun was rising, I first spotted some Elk all cows feeding on two finger ridges over then seeing plenty of deer and a really nice bull Elk in full velvet, but no pigs.
I start to walk a couple ridges over, up hill, down hill, zigzag, glassing watching the wind and seeing pig sign all over the place. I then start to walk down into a canyon cresting the ridge looking for beds as it's now after 7:00 am. And on one of my stop-look-listens I remember that I have a muffin to eat in the field. I start eating and on my second bite I hear some noise to my right 20 yards away. I see a pig hop up out of its bed; I then shove the rest of the muffin in my mouth and whip my gun around to take a shot with a full mouth of muffin. I look through the scope and all I see are ears, my scope was set on 9 for a 20-yard shot. I take aim best I could and pull the trigger on my 30-06. I look up and all I see are the legs strait up in the air the pig rolls over and some how lands on its feet and starts to roll. I run over the little rise just in time to see the boar give it’s last kick of life down hill about 10 yards away up against a log. I go back to the truck to pick-up Swallow Pig (Steve) to help pull the pig down the hill. The pig pulled us 100 yards down hill right into the truck. The pig was in the cooler by 10:30 and drinking a beer by 11:00. This was my first hunt on Tejon and I feel pretty damn lucky to get a big boar on my first time going in completely blind.
Neck shot shattered the vertebra, 215lbs. dressed boar with 2 1/2 “ tusk.
Muffin: Blueberry
Sounds like a great trip and a great place to hunt. Thanks for the stories, JHOers have been bringing home the bacon the last two weeks, that's for sure!
Ahhhh..Just finshed buchering my hog. I made 50 lbs of sausage, Pork Spareribs, Carnita's and Chunks for Pork Chili....Its sitting in my game freezer just waiting to be devoured. I think its time for a BBQ.
Thanks for making this easier. I'll split the pot between the two of you.
That takes care of one prize.
Now... I need some help figuring out what to give the three gentlemen who left their hides, feet, and heads for someone else to clean up. Hmmm... what might be appropriate for THOSE fellas? Any help here?
MJB, that was one nice looking hog you took and I'm proud to split the pot with a fellow JHO'er as upposed to a total stranger. Way to go.
Speck, once again thanks for just being you and I'm still waiting for that romantic right up on all the hunting activities like the rest of our fellow brothers. Life ends when the ink runs out.
As for the culprates, how about a group flogging.
I know I had to drive extra easy as not to lose any of the load untill it was the perfect time to gas it in reverse and hit the brakes.
At least I left something for the prediators, you did such a good job of deboning that there wasn't anything left for them to even want to suck on the bones.

Just diced up some chops and made burritos. It didnt taste gamey at all. I was a little worried when Speck said that his little bugger from last year tasted nasty. So far, so good!
Speck, Next time you visit your dentist or physician, ask him for a pair of large latex gloves and you will never deal with the bloody hand situation again! That picture of you will be your last. Congratulations...
Speck, the key is in the mail to Barbara, I sent you an e-mail. I apologize for not checking out, but to be honest it never crossed my mind and I didn't want to try to find someone to let us out so that we could leave the key. Monte and I had a chance to kill a couple of hog's friday right at dark, but we would have had to go thru a hellasious canyon to retrieve them , I decided not to shoot and figured that we could ambush them the next A.M. Well that didn't work but we saw some pigs about a mile away so we took off in hot pursuit. that was 6:30 A.M. we finally got back to the truck at 1:00P.M. out of water and out of energy, we went back to camp to chat with Brent and Joe and after a while went back to hunting. We humped a lot of mile's but never saw another pig. Had a great time and can't wait to do it again !
Here's some pics... Jesse won't show me how to post more than one pic so this will take a few...LOL
Here's the camp... on the left is the "RNN" (Ralph Nader Nightmare) and that's FForF hiding my stuff in his camper that he just jacked from me...Damn Mike... If you would just ask, I would share the Whisky... you need help bro...lol
