Hey all,

I haven't been around much, and while that's not likely to change, I have been asked by a couple of folks about the Tejon Hunt.

I do still have the weekend of May 14-16 booked at the ranch for a group hunt.

For those who haven't done one of these hunts, it's essentially a private Pig-o-Rama (Tejon is calling them "Wild Pig Management Hunts" now). I can accept up to 50 hunters, and we'll have access to the entire South Area.

For those who have done one (or more) of these hunts, you know what a blast it is. So far, there haven't been any rule changes since last year, and everything will work just as it always has.

I'm not ready to start sending out application packets yet, so please don't flood me with email requests. It's too early, and if you write a check now it will expire before it goes to the ranch. However, if someone is wondering what to ask for as a Christmas gift, this is a pretty good one.

Hunt cost will be $550. That includes hunting Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Hunters must be off the ranch by 16:00 on Sunday.

No lodging is included, but there's an excellent camping area with rent-a-john facilities. The camp area will facilitate RVs, but there are no hook-ups. You must be self-contained. Tent camping is also fine, and there are plenty of sites.

So there ya go... mark your calendars, save your pennies, and keep your eyes on this space for updates. I'll probably start taking applications after the first of the year.

You're right, Mark. I've been multi-tasking.

If we get over 25 hunters, it's $450. 25 or less is $550. Usually no problem making 25, as most of you know... but just so we're all informed.

Can non JHO members go. I have 3 hunters that might be willing to go, one has never hunted before and I think this could be a good start for him.

Yes hiline345, the more the merrier. This is a good hunt to learn how to hunt hogs in steep country.

Question for you all. I'd like to have my brother and or dad come down for the hunt, my brother has never hunted and my dad has never hunted hogs. Having never been to Tejon with 25+ hunters all out looking for the piggies does it get a bit crowded? How easy is it to get around? I'm sure everyone would be helpful with general guidance of the area, but I'm sure those with experience are going to pick their spots.

I guess at the end of the day the pigs are where you find them, I'm just wondering if this would be a good opportunity for two pig virgins, and three Tejon virgins?

Tejon is a great place to hunt hogs. Lots of open county to explore. Since speck has the South Side reserved for the JHO Hunt, you would have plenty of room. The area is HUGE!!!! The $450-$550 price is well worth the hunt and hangin around camp. I think I will make the trek down from Reno this year....

I hear Tejon is allowing UTV (Side by Sides) now. Can anyone clear this up? As long as it has a "Steering Wheel" you are good to go..I'm assuming still no quads allowed..
