Ok I will tell my story
no one has heard the real story....
Toby (My brother in law from Utah) and I headed out Friday afternoon, to make a long story shorter I will just say we didn't see any pigs. Although I almost stepped on a rattler.
Had a great steak dinner and a little Patrone
.
Saturday morning found Toby and Myself heading up tunis creek with Ron Gayer as our guide. Shortly into our journey Ron stopped to glass the surrounding hillsides and spotted pigs at the top of the ridge. Ron pointed out the pigs so that Toby and I could view them in our binos. After talking to Toby later neither one of us actally saw the pigs, we just agreed with Ron, that they were there and we should go after them. We got above the pigs and they were on the smaller size so Toby decided to pass holding out for a big boar. I on the other hand was more than willing to take a small pig. I started my stalk heading for the pigs and got to about what I thought was 30 yards. Well I shot and missed. Suddenly I had this feeling in my stomach that I just didn't want to deal with at the moment
(damn steak and Patron) anyway I sqeezed real tight and waited for it to pass. Ok I am ready again since the pigs didn't move much. I dropped down below the pigs and came up withing shooting range I am guessing 20 yards, picked out a nice calico, let the arrow fly missed again hmm? what the hell! Oh man here comes that feeling again (man I hope that steak was good?) Squeeze wait ok good. The pigs didn't even move so I pulled out yet another arrow took a couple more steps just for giggles pulled out the rangefinder I think It was 19 yards.. Picked out the vitals let the arrow fly I missed again!! what the hell? I am calm as can be so I know its not the fever.... I just cant shoot... Well to get this story over with I shoot one more time and miss. Shoot one more time and hear a whack the pig squeels but doesn't take off. I shoot one more time and miss again
Now I am out of arrows
The pigs finally bolt and I hear Ron fire off a shot from his hand cannon. But sadly I cannot even watch to see which way the pigs take off, I am so sick to my stomach that I can't wait any longer
.
Well To finish up, We could not find the pig, I was out 6 arrows, one pair of skivvies, and a release that I am not sure I will ever use again
.
Well I am gonna blame the shooting on the fact that I left my bow in the back of the truck on the ride up. I think something got knocked out of whack... But I also learned that shooting on a hillside is a lot different than the range.... Gotta practice in real life hunting situations.
My only regret was that I was not smart enough to stop shooting when I figured something was wrong..
Well since I wounded a pig my hunt was over.. Still I had a great time...
Maybe I will write up Tobys story since he doesn't have a computer.
