Anyone have the "Spring Family Hunt" package? Is it a good deal? What does it include? What is the guest policy, if any? Worth the money?

Is it worth it is pretty subjective, but I’ll tell you what I know.
I have done it a coupe of times and had a lot of fun.

Runs from Feb-end of August.

$900 dollars for a single person or $1200 for a family

For the family it is immediate family only wife and kids that live with you.
I think you still get up to 5 guest passes with the family one, which you can use to take friends.

You can shoot coyotes, ground squirrels, rabbits all of which are plentiful.
( no lead beginning Jan 08 )

Pigs can be added at $400ea. There are a ton of them.

Fishing in reservoir #2 ( plenty of bass and panfish) I think it’s catch and release.

There are a couple places where you can camp.

The spring is unbelievable there, the wildflowers are awesome.

You will see tons of game: deer, elk, pigs, coyote, bobcat, maybe a bear, lion or badger.

The place is huge 425 square miles( 270,000 acres. Biggest piece of private land in Ca.

Publicly traded company ticker symbol TRC

All of this is from memory so verify with them.

betel,
Are all the pigs $400 or do they get cheaper at any point? Is there a limit to how many you can take (other than what your wallet will allow)? I sent Lana an email but have not yet heard back.

Nate, did my email go through? I've been having problems with it lately. Let me know if I need to resend it.

SD,
I think they were limiting it to two, but best to wait and hear from them. Either way I don't think they get any cheaper.

That place is crawlin with em.

1,100.00 for the membership and 450 per pig limit of 2...but you get to do all the Pig-o-rama hunts for another 450 each a little high but it's close to So. Cal. and always has pigs somewhere on that ranch.

I'm thinking about doing this pkg. hunt with bows only and settle for big sows. I have a buddy that's got a great RV and jeep to go with his Switchback, should be fun. I've heard that most of the time you see very few people....hell over 2,000 miles of road should be able to see alot more of the ranch and find some good honey holes on both sides.

Plus they have a lot of varmits to hone my calling & shooting skills.

Where did you get $450 per pig from? The website says $400. They must not want business too bad. Over the last few days, I've sent them two emails and left a phone message and no one has gotten back to me yet.

I'm into it because I could go on my schedule. It would be nice to be able to decide to go pig hunting on a Friday and just jump in the car and go.

SD, the web is a little old....It may take a little time to get a hold of Lana, remember they are country folk and move a little slower than we are use too.

450 is still not bad per pig, but it's getting a little silly since they spend no money on the pigs, yet cost are going up?.........welcome to hunting, now bend over grab your ankles, and take it like a man.

$450 wouldn't be so bad (for the Pig-O-Rama) if you could stay more than 2.5 days. 4 days would be great - Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon.

I guess that would be the big advantage to having a membership, you could stay as long as you want, when you want.

I find it surprising that they are raising the prices when I know they are losing off season package holders due to the non lead ammo ban. That is effectively shutting out a lot of the squirell and high volume varmit guys.

Good luck with email, I tried when we moved out here, all she ever emailed me was "call me".

Do it, then send me the five guest passes, I will keep them safe for you, and then you drive to me, we dirty my truck for the weekend, I'll even buy beer.

If you wanna talk to the folks at Tejon, the phone is definitely the way to do it. I don't think anyone there cares much about this "Internet thing".

Nate, like most any other hunting club, it's not a bad deal if you're gonna utilize it. It's a beautiful place and reasonably safe to take the family for camping and such. The varmint hunting is gonna cost ya, though, for non-lead ammo will add up when you start popping squirrels.

The pig price isn't unheard of, and relatively speaking it isn't a bad deal. You've hunted there, so you know what the hunting is like. You'll kill your pig. The nice thing about the membership is you get to do it on your terms... no two-day rush to pick one out and make the kill.

I was real close to pulling the trigger on a diamond membership (includes a deer and a couple of hogs), but it's just too far for me to justify the cost. And now that I can't shoot rimfire at squirrels, that's a lot of money to hunt a deer and some pigs.
